A bar on financial aid?????????????

What does this mean? Two days ago I checked my CASH status but all that was there were loans. I then check today and the loans are still there but furthur down it says my financial aid counselour has placed a hold on financial aid. Why would they do this? I will have to call tomorrow but do you know what this means????????

Do you have a proof of your citizenship?

Yes. I am american born.

I also have a bar on my financial aid and I already accepted my package so I wanna know why too and I’m also an american born citizen.

Go and ask this question in Financial Aid & Scholarships. There are several people there who work in college finaid offices and they usually know all the details.

Hi, you said you have accepted your package, do you know if accepting means that I’m going to UT for sure or does it just lock the money for me? I’d love to accept it but I’m not sure whether i want to attend UT yet since i’m not going to hear from my other schools until 4/1. :

I think it does mean you’re attending because as I went to certify it and one of the agreements was that I’m attending the school and if any other schools offer me financial aid I will decline their offers.

Don’t you have 3 weeks to accept your package?

21 days is what it said so yup 3 weeks, but I accepted it since I had enough money to cover everything and UT is my #1 school.

Oh yes, that makes complete sense! I was referring to chocopiano who said he doesn’t know if he’s going to UT yet but doesn’t want to lose the package.

I just talked to my college adviser at my high school and she told me my financial bar may be up since I rejected a loan so the financial aid counselor wants to review what I accepted and declined.

lxslarry: Did you get any news on merit scholarships from CS/Turing ?

Thanks.

A bar could mean you need to complete something or a FA counselor needs to review the FAFSA filed. My S also has a bar but there is nothing he needs to complete and he is not likely going to qualify for any FA either.

dnarayen: no I have not. I only received a $1000 from the college of natural science. Nothing from computer science.
