A bit worried

Hi, I feel quite embarrassed to ask such a question, but God knows, I'm not a drug abuser... So here's the story: yesterday I went to a party and a friend of mine invited me to smoke some weed with him, that was the second time in my life, the first being about 6 months ago. It felt awesome, however the first thought that came to my mind when I woke up today was that I'm going to be put through a physical examination upon entering college in 10 days. Besides, as I am an international student, i assume the exam will be more detailed. So my question is... are colleges in America /New York/ looking for drugs when doing the regular physical tests and can this silly try jeopardize my college acceptance? I couldn't find much information about what those college physical exams really include. Blood/ urine tests?

They will definitely do a urine test. Drugs is one of the main things that they look for, especially with international students.

I’ve heard that if you take meth the 2 cancel each other out on a drug test.

My college doesn’t even give physicals (they only require immunization forms) and I’ve never heard of this. Most likely they won’t penalize you for drugs since you weren’t doing them at school AND you are already accepted into the university. You could call your school or check their website for more information though.

There are detox products out there, but they’re expensive and I don’t know how effective they are.

dont worry, you you smoke weed once or twice and take a test it wont show up, trust me, i smoked the night before a test and passed

I don’t think college physicals usually require a drug test. There are immunizations you need to be current with, as people have said, but I’ve never heard of having to take a drug test to go to school.

If that were the case, lots of people wouldn’t be able to go and I’m sure you’d hear something about it. :)

However if you’re trying to get a job off campus, they might test. That’s my current situation and I’m mildly freaked out…

I second the meth suggestion. That really is the only logical solution.

This sounds like an urban legend.

I never even heard of college physicals. I certainly never had to take one.

They won’t be drug testing you, so don’t worry. You’d have to sign a release form anyways, it’s not something they could just surprise you with.

Drug tests are time consuming and expensive, colleges aren’t going to pay to test each incoming freshman.

Thank you for all the answers!

Well, today I spoke to a local doctor, a friend, and he told me that by examining a blood sample for TB let’s say, or for other dangerous disease, which they’ll certainly do, TCH can be found, which, in my opinion is not true, I think they can actually find it only if they search especially for it,not by regular blood tests…

TB testing involves a skin test - no blood sample is used.

There are blood tests for TB. The antigen skin test is probably more common, but it isn’t the only option available.

A lot of people will tell you to take a diuretic to dilute your urine sample. Don’t do this. If your sample is suspiciously diluted it will raise a red flag; at some businesses that require drug testing, diluted, or otherwise tampered with samples are automatically considered a positive result.

Jasmina, tell them what happens in Amsterdam stays in Amsterdam.

Haha, Vanagandr, that was my firs idea and so far it remains the most solid one:D

You won’t fail a DT for weed if you only smoked 1 time in the last week. I’ve smoked the day before a drug test before and passed, several times. The cutoff level is only reached if you smoke a couple of times a week. The whole smoking once means it’s in your system for 30 days is a myth.

Would they deny you a visa/admission if you failed one drug test for weed?

I’ve never heard of such testing being done at universities.

Reactions/consequences to a positive test will differ depending on where you are (they might be all angry and strict in Kansas or laid back and not caring in California)

10 days after smoking should be long enough to pass a urine test…I think. Also, if you didn’t take too many hits it won’t show up.

If all else fails, say you were vacationing in Amsterdam. They can’t really do anything about that.
