my gpa is very weird. i've gotten all A's in all my AP classes (taken 7 so far), however I've got several more B's in pre-ap and honors classes, id say about 5 or so. furthermore, i'm an AP scholar with honors and my final gpa should be around a 3.7 with a 4.7 weighted. i know i should have worked harder in my pre-ap's but i've technically gotten a 4.0 (6.0 for that matter) in all "college classes" and tests. can i still get in because:

-2250 on SAT, planning on retaking for hopefully 2300+
-Top 10% in class
-National Merit Semi-Finalist
-excellent extracurriculars
-very good recommendations
-excellent essays
-took 3 week mini course at brown
-BIG ENTHUSIASM!!!!! im planning to brown on applying ED

basically what i'm asking is: do colleges like brown care more about pre-ap grades than AP grades???

thanks for any help. im seriously freaking out but please be honest.

Colleges care more about AP grades than honors classes. Also, the way that your school calculates AP credit most likely comes up with a different weighted gpa than college calculations. I've never heard of a high school classes granting 6.0 for an A. Replace all your 6.0s with 5.0s and recalculate that weighted, i think it'll be quite a bit lower.

I mean if you have a 2250 and a 4.7 GPA weighted with all the back-ups you have, I think you have even a possibility for colleges like HYPSM. I'm pretty sure you'll get into Brown.

the number 2250 showed up on my SAT exam booklet.... and that's what i got on my SAT's too. got into Stanford though, and I am so very very happy. If you think 2250 is too borderline however for the top schools, then I suggest you retake.

maybe i'm the only one thinking this, but it does seem like your gpa is a little low for brown...i mean for an ivy, having a 3.7 is probably well below the average for brown.
