A C in an IB class

How badly will 1 or 2 C's on my transcript hurt me even though the classes are IB? I'm looking at some tier 2 schools that include Providence College, Penn State, and Syracuse. Will these schools completely throw away my application becuase I have C's or will they see that it was an IB class and give me a break?

actually if we are going by the US news rankings those are tier 1 schools. but anyways a few C's in IB classes should be perfectly fine for those schools

lol yea, I've gotten a C in analysis but I pulled off a 790 on SAt II, go figure....

but don't worry, I'm in the same position as you, I think if its just one they'll give you a break, but then again, I could be wrong.

What do you guys think about a C or B in an elective? I heard some colleges will sort of discount electives, but I had two Cs in IB art this year...I don't know my 4th quarter or final grade yet, hopefully hopefully hopefully the final grade will be a B...but even that could look kind of unfavorable. I am worried they will look at it like I didn't bother to try since it was an elective or I didn't balance it well against the other courses (I was in 7 IB classes and none of them gave me trouble, just art). I did try hard, but the grading and expectations were tough (not trying to blame the teacher or anything, but none of the juniors got As really, we sort of didn't know what we were doing too well).
