a "C" in ap chem?

What if i got a c in ap chemistry and everything else A's junior year....should i not even bother applying?

yeS that "C" will totally break any chance of acceptance.

You're screwed.

I agree. You may as well just apply to your local community college for plumbing.

Just kidding. Assuming that you're a Junior, you should probably explain that C (in passing or in detail, whichever you prefer) on your application.

So no, a C will not break your chances of admittance.

Don't be frustrated; grades are only a part of what they look at. Moreover, a C in ap chem, one of the hardest of the ap's, is not going to hurt your chances if you have an otherwise consistant record.

ignore what Rsood06 and Seven-dust wrote, and pay more attention to what Jimp and bm95050 said. (Obviously you probably have already done that...CC trolls can be quite annoying.)

One "C" on your application will not doom you -- just make sure to work hard to overcome it. Success on the AP exam can also help. Do know that it will have an impact as most applicants to Hopkins are straight A students or close to it. It does not "totally break" your chances as students with C grades are admitted every year -- you should worry if it is a D or F.

if i did a lot worse my senior year (one C in IB Physics and B's in IB Biology and IB Math HL), will it look really really bad?

It is true that one grade will not doom an application. However, you should be aware that senior year performance and curriculum is as important as junior year. An analysis of the mid-year report is the for Admissions Counselors the best predictor of a student's academic ability and progress.

Though a poor senior year does not guarantee not being accepted, it will impact the way your application is reviewed.

i got 2 Bs in 9th grade and straight As in 10,11th grades.
however, this year i will be receiving 2 Bs. would this lower my chance a lot?

by the way, i think my courses are very rigorous, especially this year with 5 ap classes.

As I mentioned in my initial posts on College Confidential, I will not respond to individual posts about "chances for admission." The review of each applicant is quite complex and not based on two or three lines of text summarizing grades and courses.

Trust in the fact that the Admissions Committee will do our jobs correctly and take all factors into account.

bump anymore input?

ummm, shopaholic234, you got more than one response from AdmissionsDaniel. what other input do you want -- input from another prospective student how has not worked nearly 10 years in Admissions??? Bit confused here...

Actually, my brother also got C's in AP Chem is junior year, and he got into JHU... but from the waiting list.
