A chance for CMU?

Ok, I have plans to major in computer science and mathematics.

Note about Grades: I know my workload is intense, but I will get an A in every class. They're in actuality not that hard.

Senior Year:

Everything is HL 2
CS is HL
Physics is now IB Physics SL

Same note about grades.

MIThopeful16 + CMU – you are in !!!

perhaps not necessary to be admitted, but for the sake of well-roundedness I would suggest you look into some non-academic activities

I also forgot to add,
ACT: 30(Retaking in fall)
SAT: 1830(Retaking in Fall)

What classifies as non-academic?
Would going out and mentoring kids in robotics for 2 years count as such?

Unless you are URM, your chances are average, especially for SCS. The good schedule is one foot in the door, but the scores are a huge minus (SCS is the most competitive school, and for good reason.)

I keep forgetting to add stuff, I’m Black/African-American.

bump for relevance.

You are in

can I ask the same question?

I’m a junior going into senior year now, and college is the only thing on my mind.
One thing I know that could help: I’m Persian.

Anywho, freshman year:
Environmental Science: A
Honors French 2: A+
Honors Math: A/A-
English: A-
History: A-

Sophomore year:
Honors Chem: A
Honors French 3/4: A
Honors Math 2: A/A-
English: A-
History: A-
Art: A-/B+

Junior:
AP Calc AB: A
Printmaking/Mixed Media: A
English: A-
History: B+
Exploration Ensemble: A
Honors French 4/5: B+

Senior year:
AP Calc BC
AP Bio
Psychology
Forensic science
Nutritional science
History electives
English
AP Art

and I just took the AP Calc AB test and the AP English test, even though my school doesn’t offer AP English.

I also do a lot of volunteer work- at the hospital, community food bank, and Habitat for Humanity.

And this summer I am conducting my own research as a protege of a professor at Brown, and I’m working at a biotechnology research lab as well.

And I’m going to be a Civil War reenactor this summer! It’s pretty awesome. My cousin and my uncle both went to CMU as well, and they really loved it. I just want to know if I can get in since I’m not as smart as they are.

So, what’re your opinions?

~Serena

And my school doesn’t do rank or GPA so much, but I know I had like a 3.85 at one point.

I don’t know my SAT scores yet but on the ACT I got a 30.

Thanks!

Wow your UW is a 4 and you’re still 11?

Either your school is really easy or there’s a bunch of very competitive students.
