A chance ?

Hi everyone ! I’m currently a california community college student who’s planning on transferring this next fall to a csu or asu.
I’ve switched my major alot and have had some difficulties early on but have done incredibly well and have straight A’s right now in all of my classes. The highest I could bring my gpa up to would be around a 2.9. I was wondering if I still have a solid chance of getting into the engineering program at csulb or fullerton, or perhaps should I wait another year and take filler classes to raise my gpa up to a 3.2 atleast to get TAG to davis or a uc of my choice. In terms of ec’s I was an intern for my local congressman, and have worked in retail and food service for the past two years. Aside from that I’m pretty good at writing essays so I think I got that on lockdown. So with all that in mind, is it possible to gain admission ??? I want some perspective and I would massively appreciate it.

You can attempt to transfer now since you are just over the minimum GPA. Long Beach will be impacted for a while. The requirements for entry may change, thus requiring higher GPA’s:

A problem with taking more classes at the CC is that sometimes additional units can impede your acceptance.

There is a maximum allowed. Up to 70 Community College units can still count toward any degree; additional courses can be counted for subject credit if articulated.

As long as you meet the unit threshold, you should definitely apply now and let the results dictate your course. I’d encourage you to apply to a couple of UCs, UCR and UCM are your best shot. Add a couple of CSUs - including your ‘local’ campus - that will keep your options open. You can make up your mind in April/May when you hear back.
