A college never replied to my interview request?

Okay so on 11/28 I sent in an off-campus/or Skype interview request via their online form. Never received a reply, despite the fact that their website says that a reply will be sent "within 2-5 days". This is why I did not request it sooner: because I thought that the process would be relatively speedy. Called 9 days ago to confirm that my request had gone through successfully. They stated that it had, and that they would contact me within the week to schedule it. Again, never received a reply. Checked spam and everything.

The deadline for ED interviews was 12/17, and I submitted my ED application yesterday. The interview is strongly recommended, and I'm terrified that I won't get in because a factor that I pretty much couldn't control in this case.

Should I ask if they'd allow me to do the interview past the deadline? Would that be inappropriate, to ask to breach the rules like that? I mean, I just feel like this whole ordeal is unprofessional and I did request it 19 days prior to the deadline . . .

Yes. Be a squeaky wheel! It is not personal, and often the interviewers are volunteers. Ask again. Ask any adult who has tried to coordinate volunteers, especially around the Holidays!

The deadline is often a deadline to request an interview (which you can control). The deadline to complete the interview will be some time later- but soon (maybe January 10-15? I am TOTALLY guessing here!). Just be pleasant and persistent.

Generally, interviews are inconsequential in the acceptance decision (I know, I’ve done them for years). So, be the “squeaky wheel” if you’d like, but understand that your interview is MOST unlikely to alter the final admissions result. Further, mid-February is a realistic deadline for when the interview report is required.
