I don't recall seeing a foreign language requirement at Stanford. Is there one? Regardless, do foreign language courses fulfill the "Humanities" requirement?

Are Stats courses considered "Applied Math?"

Can IHUM courses be used to fulfill requirements (e.g. humanities req.)?

You need to take a year of a foreign language or test out of a year of language through SAT IIs, AP scores, or the placement test. Only literature based foreign language classes count towards the humanities requirement.

Stats courses fulfill the math requirement (not applied science if that's what you are asking). Stats is it's own department. If you want to major in math with a concentration in applied math, then Stats would count towards that. Does that answer that question?

IHUM courses do not fulfill anything but the IHUM requirement.

If you're worried about fulfilling some of the requirements, intro seminars can be a really good way to fulfill them. If you're worried about fulfilling the humanities requirement in particular, your education for citizenship requirement (one course in at least two of the following: ethics, gender studies, american studies, global communities) can double count for the humanities requirement.

For the foreign language requirement, does Stanford require that you take the an SAT II Reading and Listening language or can it just be Reading (I ask this because the Reading and Listening tests are offered only in nov. and that has passed)?

I can speak/read/write in both Armenian and Russian, but those don't seem to be general courses at Stanford. Can I place out of the language requirement with one of these languages?
