A Couple Questions

For current ND students, what cell phone companies have good reception out there? My choices are Cingular and Verizon. Also, I want to bring a bike out. Where do students keep their bikes at night and in the winter?

Verizon has great coverage in Northwest Indiana... not sure about Cingular. Students keep their bikes on the bike racks all over campus and outside the dorms in the summer, spring and fall. Don't know where they go in the winter.

I think it depends on where you get housing (you may want to wait until you find out). Verizon is great for North, Mod, and God quad but isn't all that great further south; especially in West quad. In West quad I would say that Cingular is better, but most everywhere else I would go with Verizon. Unfortunately I live in West quad and have Verizon so I know from experience :(.

As for bikes, a lot of students still ride them in the winter so they don't go anywhere. I also heard that you can store them in the football stadium after the season is over but I don't know if that is true or not. You could always email jkorros@nd.edu, he is the head of the ND police and would be able to tell you your options.

My son is in Mod, and Alltel is great there and pretty much all over campus (except on the elevators).

I live in Carroll Hall (fartherst dorm from everything) and I don't really know anyone who has 'good' reception with a cell phone but Verizon seems to be the best. As for bikes, if you don't want to ride it in the winter, the school will allow you to lock it up inside the football stadium (the covered part) so that it doesnt get rusty from the salt/snow mix. At night you can lock your bike in front of the dorm (each dorm has more than enough bike racks). BUY A GOOD BIKE LOCK!!!! Notre Dame is not known for criminals but there are many visitors on ND's campus around the clock and bikes without locks WILL go missing!

I Have SPRINT and it works fine most of the time out there!!
