A day in the life.

This is a summary what a day in my life will look like next school year.

Background:

I'll be 16 in the first few months of Junior year, and I am expected to get a job.

Catch- I'm also expected to be in 3 APs, 4 Honors, active member in 3 clubs, manager for girls AND boys volleyball (that's fall and spring seasons), as well as an ESOL tutor. AND I won't have a car or anyone able to drive me.

Specs:

I live 60 minutes walking from the school, 20 minutes (in the opposite direction) from town center (where all the stores and restaurants are)
The school is 80 minutes walking from town center (where all the stores and restaurants are).

HERE is my day in the life for next year. Hope you enjoy.

stumbles out of bed 6:30 hours later it's 6:45 and the bus will BE here in 10 minutes...!!

Never time to straighten hair or put on makeup or focus on looking nice, I'll have to do that in the locker room when I get to school.

Never time for breakfast, so I eat that (apple) on the bus. Hope I remembered to pack a lunch, cause that's all I'm eating after that apple, until 8:42 pm when I get home.

Awesome, I've eaten and made it to school, it's 7:10, hurry to the locker room and don't make eye-contact, you look like you stumbled out of bed.. oh wait, you did.

Ok, so a few *****y girls are staring and judging at me in the locker room while I put on minimal make-up and modestly do my hair (we all know they had 40+ minutes to do it at their own houses, so I'm not even going to try to compare myself)

It's 7:20, 5 minutes until the warning bell rings, meet with some friends, brief myself on what I'm doing in my 3 APs and 4 Honors, today.

ding

Ok, I'm in 1st period AP Lang, just 7 more to go, including gym. Homework: Essay due in 2 days (so I'll do 1/2 tonight), read 30 pages + vocab. (approx. 45 minutes if I'm gonna get an A)

2nd period Honors Precalc. stomach, stop growling you just had an apple 1 hour ago! This is the hardest honors class at my school, so I better use Khan Academy tonight so I know what's going on...! Homework: 30 problems
(approx. 12 minutes) (cumulative: 57 mins)

3rd period Honors Spanish 5, I never took Spanish 1, or Spanish 4, but I made it hear so I better appear to know what I'm doing..! People ask me questions because they think I know what's going on, jokes on them. Homework: write two paragraphs in Spanish about prompt.
(approx. 10 minutes) (cumulative 1:07)

4th Period APUSH, I'm really tired and it's only 10:00... I'm working on a group project, aka carrying all the weight. Just let this period be over.....! Homework: 5 slides in the "group" project presentation, read 7 pages + notes
(approx. 25 minutes) (cumulative: 1:32)

5th Period Honors Chinese 3, YAAAYY we are half way through the day and this is my favorite class!! I'm holding steady with my 105 in the class, no surprise she's my favorite teacher! Just three more classes to go! Homework: Two exercises and learn 5 characters, study for quiz in two days
(approx. 5 minutes) (Did I mention I rock at chinese?) (cumulative: 1:37)

6th period AP Chemistry, I'm thrilled it's not a lab day (instead of gym I would have this next period as well) This IS the hardest class at my school, I have never taken Chemistry before, but just because everyone around me has a C+ in this class doesn't mean I have to!! Homework: Read 5 pages + notes, complete 2 worksheets, study for test tomorrow
(approx. 40 minutes) (if I don't get an A my GC will make me take AP Physics next year as punishment and I can't let that heppen.....!) (cumulative: 2:17)

7th Period Gym. Run around the track 4 times. Ew. 30 push ups. I'm the only girl who can do them so there's a little pride there, but still something I wish would be over.... happy I only have 2:17 of homework!! It's usually much closer to 3:00+

8th Period Ceramics, surprisingly super stressful, this teacher grades super harshly. I wish I didn't have a fine arts requirement..!! Now I'm gonna be stuck with clay under my nails all day. great.

ding

"I MADE IT THROUGH THE DAY!" shouts the little freshman next to me, as he runs out of the class room. Now it's 2:15.
I dig a sandwich out of my over-stuffed backpack, thrilled I remembered to make it cause I haven't eaten anything in almost 7 hours.

continued below......

I push my way against the crowd of kids rushing to the buses. I kinda want to join them and go home early, maybe watch TV, put my feet up, take a nap for 5 minutes, maybe 5 hours. Alas, it’s time for yearbook club.

I’m the co captain even though I’m a junior. I only have 30 minutes here, I construct one page, and run around the school with a couple freshmen, taking pictures of “student life”. Lucky for me one of my best friends in in this club, we make plans for the weekend, without a social life I’m sure I would go insane. I need to finish another page tonight, that’s another 15 minutes making my cumulative 2:32.

It’s 2:45 and I hurry to the library to tutor a sophomore.she has a test tomorrow so I spend an extra 10 minutes quizzing her. I give her my notes from when I took that class, I hope she brings them back to me, at least I know she’ll ace the test.

Now I’m late for Volleyball, I didn’t try out because I don’t have time to play and I didn’t have thousands of dollars to pour into training, we all know it’s the only way to make the team. I opt to doing the jobs (keeping official score, doing the ‘book’ - even more detailed score, playing the music and anthem, etc. They have a game today so I’m needed everywhere ate once and I’m 10 minutes late!!!

I get to the gym at 3:40. Help them set up the nets and make sure the freshmen are all in one place. The girls on Varsity refuse to do their jobs, so I’m left to cover scoreboard, book AND libero tracking. The ref tells me I can’t handle all three and I’m forced to drag a varsity girl who has never done the job before to do libero tracking. Now I’m doing 2 jobs and teaching another. Even. More. Work…!

The coach comes towards me, he looks angry, he starts yelling about how no one is upstairs playing the music. Looks like a varsity girl has run out to dunkin donuts, leaving her post. Now I have to run up stairs, play the music and national anthem, and then sprint back down before the ref notices.

The game starts at 4:00. I juggle 2 jobs while instructing the varsity girl. My stomach growls again, and the girl offers me some chips, yay for food.

The game ends at 5:00 and it’s time for varisty to play. The crowd starts coming in and I’m back doing music. I recruit a couple JV and Freshmen girls to do certain jobs, I won’t be able to stay for the full game. One girl doesn’t know how to do scoreboard so I stay as long as I can and teach her.

I need to get across town (80 minutes walking, but I live in the Northeast (so between November and March it is normally in the 30’s…), I take the 5:45 late bus, which will take about 30 minutes to get to my stop (that’s 30 minutes to start homework!! Lowering my cumulative to 2:02)

So it’s 6:15 and I have to walk from the bus stop for 15 minutes to the center of town, in possibly 30 degree weather (It will be as high as 80, as low as 0 throughout they year. In December and January it will be dark out)

After my long hard trek to work, it’s 6:30, I will have to work at least 2 hours waitressing (because TIPS) to make it worth while. That’s about $10/hour give or take a few $$. That brings us to 8:30, and stranded in the town center. Time to do some grocery shopping for the family (that’s a 3 minute walk in the pitch dark, and I better save that receipt if I want to get reimbursed!!) I’m quick and can spend about 4 minutes in the store.

I will usually be able to hitch a ride home (because I did the grocery shopping) , other days I will need to use the sketchy city bus. It’s a 5 minute car ride home.

It’s now 8:42 ish (I haven’t really eaten since ‘’‘breakfast’’’, because I take too many classes to have a lunch at school, so I will eat lunch/dinner for 10 minutes in PEACE, maybe watch the news)

I also take an online Honors French course, so I do 20 minutes online there, I’m behind schedule in the self-paced class, but I will catch up on the weekend.

Now it’s 9:02, remember when I said I 2:02 hours of homework???
30 minutes in my friend calls and talks to me, briefing me on the gossip and her entire life story. I soak it in while I do my homework. She got home from school at 4:00 and has had 5 hours to watch TV and do homework from her minimal course load, I envy her right now.

With no room for error I will be in the shower by 11:04. I’m ridiculously tired so I get out in 5 minutes, get to be at 11:10.

But as we all know, bed doesn’t equal sleep. I have been working non-stop since I woke up, if I don’t watch a quick episode of netflix with me myself and I, I might go insane. 42 exact minutes later I put down my phone and fall asleep. (11:52)

dingding dingding

I look at my phone. It’s my friend, she has a test tomorrow and needs help studying. It’s 12:05. I help her in ten minutes and fall back to sleep.

beeeeeep beeeeeep

I look at my phone

beeeeeep

It’s 1:12

beeeeeep beeeeeep

And I’m in a group chat.

beeeeeep

My friends are making plans for the weekend. I tell them when I’m free, and to count me in. I’ll let them sort out the details. I send one of them a separate text asking her to text me the final plan when they figure it out.

beeeeeep beeeeeepbeeeeeep beeeeeepbeeeeeep beeeeeep

Oh look now they’re gossiping

beeeeeep beeeeeepbeeeeeep beeeeeepbeeeeeep beeeeeepbeeeeeep beeeeeepbeeeeeep beeeeeep

And it’s turned into a fight…smhmutes phone

Falls alseep at 1:16

BEEEP BEEEEP

It’s my alarm. I managed 6:34 of real sleep. It’s 6:40. My bus will BE here in 10 minutes…!!

You get the idea…

What is your day in the life?

a day lacking complaints to a board of internet strangers

You take spanish, Chinese, and french?? Wow…

Wow.

@neonerudite‌ @dsi411 I’m actually psyched for it!
My weekends are much more relaxed and socially-oriented, but still come with all the homework and pain that haunts all students :)

I’m really curious to see other people’s ‘a day in the life’ because I can’t imagine how most of you juggle all your ECs, and 5+ APs!!! Someone please enlighten me!!!

@foolish‌ what?

I will have 5 APs and one IB SL class next year but I don’t really have any extracurriculars so…yeah.

@dsi411‌ I think I COULD manage 5 APs next year with my ECs, IF I wasn’t working…

I think the waitressing is what is throwing me over the edge… :frowning: but I don’t really have a choice.

Or maybe I COULD handle 4-5 APs, ECs, and waitressing, IF I had a car, to save time on transportation… but I had a whole other thread about that last week lol.

Wow. I’m rooting for you Spiral!

@foolish chill… the stress relief is understandable, no need to be snarky

@emenya That means a lot! I just hope it’s worth it…!

Wake up at 6:25

Have 10 minutes to brush teeth and get ready

Eat breakfast on bus

School

Clubs

Go home

Homework

Stay online for 1 or 2 more hours

Sleep

Wake up

Umm lets see… I’m a freshman so yeah
Morning: I’m try and get up at 4:45 AM so I have time to relax, take a shower, eat, practice violin etc…
Most of the time that doesn’t happen, and I get up around 6:40, the time I have to be in the car on my way to school I rush and get dressed, throw a few things in my lunch box, grab oatmeal, wake my mom up to drive me, and go.
7ish: I get to the library, where my zero hour debate class is… thankfully they don’t mark tardies (at least for me). We are supposed to work on our cases or practice debating but we end up being too sleepy to accomplish anything and just talk the whole class… leaving the cases as homework ugh.
8 (or 8:30 on Thursdays): I have put my violin in its locker way over in the Fieldhouse across the skywalk (a huge drag #1st world problems) and I am ready to go. This class, Honors English 9, moves surprisingly slow sometimes, we spent 20 MINUTES handing out mid-quarter report cards one day and the next day I spent 30 minutes reading a blog on my tablet and the teacher didn’t care. Oh, and did I mention my hate of Springboard? Anyhow, we don’t have regular homework in this class, but sometimes we have papers to work on, roots to memorize, or grammar packets, which are the only things easy for my logical brain.
2nd period: I love the teacher for pre-AP physics, and I love physics in general, but sometimes this class is way below my math level (pre-calc) so we spend a ton of time on things that appear easy to me. Also, our huge labs (which are like finals) are done in groups, but since I have trust issues and am a control freak I end up doing 75% of the work. More homework for me, but only sometimes.
Seminar -only on Tuesdays: This is the 25 class where we get to learn about college and stuff. It’s honestly so dumb. My friend from elementary school and I just laugh at it the whole time, and do homework if we have any and the teachers don’t yell at us for doing it. The room is depressing, it’s like an algebra 1 classroom and there’s numberlines on to the table… like uh, you really still need those?
3rd period: AP Euro. For whatever reason, they decided to make this the advanced option for freshman world history. Our teacher is such a nice guy (he’s my debate coach too) but he’s… how do we say this? Disorganized. (Like he’s lost our essay like twice before disorganized). The typical class is spent either working on homework for the class, talking about tumblr, talking about debate, or trying to get the project we need to do organized. It’s… interesting.
Lunch: My friends and I sit in a circle in front of the library (my school is 100 years old and we don’t have a lunch room. Actually we do, but it fits like 10 people max lol). Anyway, I haven’t seen my friends all day because the schedule gods hate me. We talk about stuff and I attempt to flirt with the guy, who is also my friend, that I’ve liked since 5th grade.
4th period: Advanced orchestra. I rush to this class after lunch because I always end up staying at lunch longer than the bell because friends. Anyway, this class is fun but kind of boring because the teacher refuses to make the freshmen 1st violins. We’re stuck on 2nd violin all year.
5th period: Spanish 1. Interesting, but not a hard class at all. I have a worksheet to do sometimes.
6th period: Pre-engineering: After racing up 4 flights of stairs to get here, I either have a boring take notes day, or a fun do an engineering project day. I’ve become friends with the other girls in the class so it’s normally pretty enjoyable.

2:15: The school day is over but my day is not. Depending on the day I either g

2:15: The school day is over but my day is not. Depending on the day I either go talk to my friends (instead of starting homework), go to a robotics club meeting, wait for my mom to pick me up for violin lessons or to take my and my brother to the robotics team I’m mentoring, or go work on homework with my climbing team before practice starts.
On climbing team days, my team and I walk the few sketchy blocks from school to the gym. Team lasts from 4 to 6:30, but after that I have to wait another hour till my mom can pick me up. I try to work on homework, but a rock climbing gym is a very distracting place to do homework, so I mostly talk to the employees, climb, or surf the web.
Once I get home around 7:45 I usually have about an hour of homework to do, sometimes more, sometimes less. I end up staying up much latter though because of my weird addiction to stalking CC/ifunny. Yeah, that’s not a normal combination. I fall asleep around 11.

Weekends:
Spend like 7 hours doing all the reading/notes for the AP Euro units, which are like only 2 weeks long. Write debate cases.
Sleep.

Breaks:
Doing work marathons for my two online classes, health and pre-calc, which I’m always very ahead or behind in… there’s no middle ground.
Um yeah that was long xD

My life is about to get a lot more hectic after winter break though… it’s the 6 week robotic build season and EVERY last minute I have will be poured into that. (till 7 PM after school and 8AM to 7PM on weekends)

Not next year :v I hope next semester is fine? x.x

Wake up at 6:30. Well, not really. I probably finally get up at 6:40 and jump into the shower. I do anything BUT shower in the shower, thinking about the homework I didn’t do last night, or how I’m gonna do well on the test I didn’t study for xD I get out of the shower at about 7:00 and start charging my laptop so it will hopefully be able to last the whole day (on minimal settings, of course).

Around 7:10 I start eating breakfast: a bowl of cereal. Right after I get dressed, most likely something really lazy, like sweatpants.

At 7:30-ish my grandpa drives me to school. (I sleep over at my grandparents’ house often, and they don’t make me ride the bus :3) I get there at around 7:35 since they live very close to the school, but it all depends on traffic. I enter through the auditorium doors since they’re much closer to my first period, and it’s easier than the main entrance anyway.

beeeeeeeeep (I swear my bell is so boring)

1st Period Honors Algebra 2: I sit down in my seat, not talking to anyone :frowning: I’m the only freshman in this class (at least I’m pretty sure I will be) and I’m too scared to talk to the scary sophomores x.x Luckily, they don’t make fun of me or anything, they just talk amongst themselves as if I wasn’t there. Then class starts, and everyone’s silent. The teacher just teaches, everyone paying attention with no interruptions.

…Unless a few of my sophomore friends are in this class  They’re probably socially awkward as well and we can all be weird together \o/

2nd Period P.E.: This will most likely be one of the classes I hate most .-. A class full of freshmen. Ew x.x Luckily, my best friend has this with me, so I can just cling to her if I’m ever feeling socially awkward xP I’ll look really stupid doing sports, but I’ll still probably get a good grade because the teacher pities me. I’ll probably get made fun of, but just as much as any other non-athletic person.

3rd Period Honors Geometry: Another class full of freshmen, yay… This class is my study hall. I don’t pay attention at all, study, or do my homework (thank god the notebook checks aren’t really notebook checks), but still manage to get A’s :o When everyone’s talking at the end of class while we have time to do homework, I’ll just be sitting there alone doing whatever homework I didn’t do for other classes.

Lunch: I have an early lunch, but I’m actually pretty hungry by this point so I’m not complaining :stuck_out_tongue: I sit by my best friend (the one from P.E.) and her friends, and eat :3 I just hope I won’t have lunch with this one girl who hates me for no reason, because she sits with her boyfriend near my table and I just can’t stand her.

4th Period Biology: I have this class with my best friend (from P.E.) and another friend and someone who sits at my lunch table :3 I’ll have a different teacher, but she’s actually preggo and my teacher from last semester is going to be taking over whenever she has her baby. Hopefully she won’t see me as the really quiet, anti-social kid who she thinks only studies (when he doesn’t study for Bio at all) anymore, because I’ll be with a lot of people I actually know this semester. But otherwise, this class is so easy :stuck_out_tongue: I kind of use it as a study hall whenever we’re taking notes, because they’re fill-in-the-blank and the powerpoints are online for us anyway. I’ll walk with my best friend and the other friend to next period :3

5th Period French: I love this class  I have so many friends in this, including my best friend (again, from P.E.), the other friend (from Bio) and most likely the person who sits at my lunch table (again from Bio). Oh, and this kid I sit with at lunch and used to have Bio with. I just love this class in general, because of the teacher, the people, and how easy it is. This is probably the class I’ll be myself most in, because in most other classes people think I just study all the time and have no friends. Despite how easy this class is, it’s all busywork, there just is no time to do anything else. And I tried last semester and got my book taken away until the end of class (which I deserved) xL Then I’ll walk to next period with my best friend (still from P.E. >.>) because she has English in the same hall as me :)

6th Period Honors English: Probably my least favorite class… ever x( I just found out my friend (from lunch and Bio) is taking this class, but she’s had it different periods for both semesters and I never knew she was in it. This class has over 30 people, all freshmen, and most of them are in the popular crowd. I’ll probably get made fun of for a lot of things in this class, like what I’m wearing, how I’m not talking, etc. But I’ll try to meet up with my best friend (do I really need to say which one?) because her next period should be near mine :D

7th Period AP Human Geography: I really have no idea what this class is going to be like x.x I have a different teacher than last semester (there are so many people taking AP Human Geo) but I’ll probably just be silent the whole time again x.x At least this class is going to have more people from different grades, so they’ll just act as if I wasn’t there. Apparently this teacher isn’t as good as my old one though, and I’m not sure if we’ll have Film Fridays anymore ;n;

beeeeeeeeeep

Yay! Time to go home x.x I’m not really in any ECs .-. Although I might be in Science Olympiad, because I guess they’re letting me in for the January tournament. They must be desperate. But anyway, I’m not sure where I’ll get picked up :frowning: Hopefully not at the main entrance, but really the only other place is all the way across the school at the auditorium. But after that I’ll get picked up, eat a snack, and do anything but homework/study until I’m too tired to think xP

Then I set my alarm early so I can finish my homework, completely ignore my alarm when I wake up, and wake up at 6:30. Well, not really…

My life is so boring xP

@LosingCrayon‌ Your life is probably not as boring as mine…
I usually wake up around 7 a.m., but I wake up closer to 6 if I have to get some homework done in the morning. I leave for school at 7:30, and usually arrive by 7:50.
School has a ten day rotational block cycle, with every day given a different ‘name’. The first day of the cycle is called A1, the second is B1, the third is A2, and so in. A days have similar schedules between A days, and the same applies to B days.
On an A day, my first class is Gym, and usually consists of fitness exercises or doing weights. Each class is 80 minutes long, so we finish around 9:30.
We have a ten minute break between first and second block. Most people have a snack or do homework during this time.
Next, I have Spanish 3 Honors, which is mostly listening and speaking exercises.
Then, only on A1 days, I go to Chemistry Honors. This is probably my most challenging class since my teacher is a tough grader. Thankfully, she curves tests.
Then we have lunch, which has become ten minutes longer than last year, so I have 35 minutes to eat. This is when most clubs meet. I have a club everyday, so I end up eating lunch in a classroom.
Last class on A days is Modern World History, which is my easiest class. However, I end up doing most of the work in group projects…
After 4th block, we have a time until 3:15 that is dedicated to one of four things: all school assembly on Mondays, Grade specific assemblies on Thurdays, Advisory meetings on Tuesdays, or Extra Help timea on Wednesdays and Fridays.
For my B days, my first is Algebra II Honors, which is mostly freshmen. Qll the other sophomores are in other sections.
Second block I have drawing, and I’m the only sophomore there. I get homework by means of an out of class sketchcbook.
Third block I have Chenistry Honors and fourth block I have English 10 Honors.
So, yeah, school ends at 3:15, and from there I have my extracurriculars: academic team or bowling. Academic team matches go until 6 pm, and I het home close to 6:45. Bowling practices take less time, since I get home close to 5:30. Bowling matches take the longest; sometimes I get home close to 7:30.
I eat dinner usually at 7:30, but sometumes later depending on when I get home. Most days, I’m awake until 12 or 1 on the morning finoshing homework, but sometkmes I get to bed as early as 11:30 or as late as 3 am.
Of course, I get up at 7:30 again in the morning.
So, my typical day is pretty boring.

@Faultystart‌ LUCKY!! I wish my school day started at 8:00!! You wake up at 7:00 and by then my bus is already half way to school!! I’m jealous!!!

@snowfairy137‌ do you go to a private school, by any chance?

@LosingCrayon‌ It’s ok, I hate my grade too. Try joining some ECs this semester!! ECs = friends!! I don’t know where I would be without them!!

Day in the Life - Friday (It’s a 7-period schedule, so I thought it’d be best.)

5:00 to 5:40 AM - I wake up, take a shower, minimal makeup etc. Depends on when I wake up, though showering and making coffee are my highest priorities. I can always put on makeup when I get to school. I don’t have time to eat, but I tell my dad that I’ll eat once I get to school, or I pick up a granola bar or something else from the fridge.

5:50 AM - If I don’t leave for the bus stop within the next five minutes, I’m going to miss it. My bus stop is about a mile away, so I get dropped off by one of my parents.

5:55 to 6:10 AM - Of course, the bus is late /again/. It’s hardly ever on time, so I’m not really surprised. We’re waiting at the bus stop, and my dad is half asleep already. Just when I’m starting to think I may have missed the bus after all, I see it come around the corner.

6:10 to 6:50 AM - It’s a pretty long bus ride. My school is practically on the other side of the county, and our bus is joint with another magnet school. I spend this time half asleep, listening to music.

6:50 to 7:15 AM - I got to school and I’m waiting for the first bell. I sit outside the lobby with my friends. There’s usually nothing interesting to talk about, but I really don’t want to go to class.

7:15 to 7:25 AM - The first bell rings. I go to first period, and the principal makes announcements over the intercom.

7:25 to 8:14 AM - First period, AP United States History. It’s a Friday, so we have a chapter test. I did the assignment for the chapter, but I didn’t read it completely. At this point in the year, I’ve gotten better at taking the tests, so I’ll probably pull through with a B or a C. Either way, my teacher allows test corrections, so I’m not too concerned.

8:18 to 9:06 AM - Second period, Virtual Lab. Virtual Lab is what I’d imagine homeroom to be like, except students work on their virtual classes on their school-distributed laptops. Most students, including myself, just work on homework for other classes or slack off. I can work on my FLVS Latin 2 course whenever, wherever, but I don’t feel like doing it now. I do have chemistry homework though.

9:10 to 9:58 AM - Third period, AP English Language and Composition. I don’t like my teacher very much, and I question her way of teaching. Rather than writing essays and taking more passage-based tests, we spend the bulk of our time analyzing novels. Don’t get me wrong, The Great Gatsby and The Things They Carried were great books, and I loved discussing them. But I don’t know if it’ll prepare us for the AP test.

10:02 to 10:50 AM - Fourth period, CET 1600. It’s a college networking course. The teacher that was supposed to teach the class, as well as AP Calculus AB and AP Computer Science, is… away for personal reasons. I know more than that, but it’s not my information to give. Anyhow, since the class is a dual enrollment through a nearby college, a teacher from there comes to teach the class. She’s nice, but I don’t think she’s great at teaching high school students. She also makes me question why I decided to take the class. It’s kind of irrelevant to me.

10:50 to 11:10 AM - Reading period. Though if my networking teacher did come today, she’ll continue teaching.

11:14 to 11:44 AM - Lunch. There’s actually not much to say.

11:48 AM to 12:36 PM - Fifth period, AP Computer Science. It’s essentially another virtual lab, since we all take it through FLVS, but it’s different because everyone in the room is taking the same class. Of course, we waste most of the time, and most everyone is behind.

12:40 to 1:28 PM - Sixth period, AP Chemistry. There are only eight kids in the class, and half of them are thinking about dropping second semester. You’d think the class would be more inclusive because it’s so small, but everyone is having a hard time.

1:32 to 2:20 PM - Seventh period, Honors Calculus. I didn’t want to take this class. I signed up to take AP Calculus AB, but because the teacher is out, and my parents don’t want me taking it online, I got stuck here. No one in the class cares, and while the teacher is nice, she’s way too easy on everyone. I’m doing well. I got the highest grade on the quarter 2 exam. But I’d rather be in an AP class.

2:30 to 4:00 PM - It’s a Friday, so odds are that there’s a SECME meeting. I’m the president. I start the meeting by giving everyone updated information, and then I have everyone split off into their project groups. I don’t really get to work on my own project because I spend most of the time running around and helping everyone else. The other officers don’t do too much, which is frustrating. By the time the meeting is over, I’m drained, and I feel like nothing will ever get done.

4:00 to 4:30 PM - I wait to be picked up. Usually my parents get annoyed that I stay after so often.

4:30 to 5:00 PM - On my way home. If I hadn’t stayed after school today, I would’ve had an hour long bus ride.

5:00 to 11:00 PM - If I have homework due tonight, I’ll do it. I’ll try to catch up on Latin. But mostly, I’ll goof off on the internet. it’s a Friday anyhow. If I’m going to be productive, it sure isn’t going to be today.
