A Dilemma I am in that I need to solve today.

I am in the class of 2017, and I have no yet studied for my SAT’s yet and it is 7/14/2015. I am a quick learner and dedicated, but that doesn’t mean I want to be inside of my room for 12 hours a day studying constantly, I still want to have a little bit of a life ;). I am hardworking and will do whatever I must to get a great grade except cheat- I have integrity.
Otherwise- right now I have no studied, but I have completely freed myself from all of my summer and AP work so that I can allocate all my thoughts to studying, but I am afraid of this: Will I have enough time and enough opportunity to take the old SAT at my full capacity and be able to take it multiple times, fully prepared, so that I can see how the real SAT is? Or, should I just begin studying for the New SAT and not be worried too much for time and able to studying throughout the entire year- but this raises the question of practice material. Thank you very much and I really need to make a decision today.

Aka- do I have enough time for a real solid score above 2,000s

If you work extremely hard, 3 hours a day, every day, for 2 months, then you can guarantee get over a 2000. If I were you, I would take the old one maybe once and practice how I told you to. If you don’t do as well as you expected, then you can take the new SAT.

The old and new are really similar. The new just took out a section. Math and CR are the same in the old and new.
Can you please chance me on my dilemma too, please.

Nope, not at all. CB has a fairly detailed list of differences.

I suggest doing a practice test (old SAT) just to see where you’re at. If you’re satisfied with your score, then you can work your butt off on the old SAT. Otherwise, you’re going to be a junior, and you’re not really in a rush.

Another equally viable option is to avoid this “dilemma” and take the ACT.

I have been looking at books, so which ones do you suggest?

Try not to panic, you have plenty of time to take both tests more than once. My daughter didn’t study for either and did fine on both the SAT and ACT. She did go up substantially between the SAT that she took as a sophomore and the one she took as a junior, I think because she knew what to expect. Regardless, she did no extra studying for these and got into several schools with merit scholarship offers.

@odog66 starting with official CB materials is not a bad idea.
