A few more orientation questions

Can some of you "veteran" parents answer a couple of questions for us? Son is going to orientation this Thursday with my husband, and we are still wondering about a few things.
1) Son's VIP info under "Registration Appointments" and all other VIP Advisor information says something like "No advising appointments scheduled." Nowhere in VIP is an advisor's name listed, either. Should he call USC or his dept? Or will he be given an advisor and advising time once he arrives?

2) Do we need to be prepared to put a deposit on his Carolina Card? If so, will they take a check?

3)How "packed" time-wise is the concurrent parent orientation session? There are some forms that my husband needs to run by the health service office (not immunization forms). Will there be some time for that? Or should husband plan on maybe ducking out of a session a few minutes early to take the forms? Just wondered if he will miss critical info if he misses part of a parent session.
Thanks for your help!

By the way, Cathymee ---We did the USC theme for an extended family dinner the night of son's graduation and it was a hit! I got Gamecock napkins and also made a tablecloth out of USC patterned fabric that I found at WalMart. The decorations were a surprise for him and he loved it! Thanks for the idea!

S wil lbe guided to his major advisor when he checks in at Orientation, don't worry. They'll be sent over to the advising in a group according to major dep't.
H will have plenty of time to run over to Health Services. You might want to give them a call to see what their hours are next week so he doesnt go over at a closed time.
Don't worry about the Carolina Card now.You can add $$ anytime after S enrolls through VIP,or add it on when paying his tuition bill..Very easy to do,no sense tying up your $$ now!.They take MC and Visa,no AmEx.on the VIP site.S can add more as time goes on,as can you through VIP if he allows you passcode info for access.
Fun thing about VIP is you can keep track of their dining plan and where they eat each day,and where they spend their carolina cash, including when they do laundry (since the machines are linked to electronic debit).

Great info! Thanks so much! Eased our minds about orientation.
You can bet I'll be using that tracking tip on VIP - that is really handy to know. (Wonder how many times he'll do laundry that first semester?!! LOL!)

if he's anything like my S he'll do it when theres nothing clean left to wear...and I mean nothing...,probably two or three times.
Also,he'll come home for Christmas with a suitcase full of dirty stuff, because "logically" why bother washing it at school when you can wash it at home for free (and Mom wil do it right away b/c she doesnt want the stinky stuff in the house).
I hope everybody has a great Orientation!
Let me know if you have any other q's!!!
