A few questions about CS at WashU

How is WashU for a female interested in CS? Is the environment supportive?

Is it easy to get into classes? I hear that many schools are experiencing overcrowding as per this article

What kind of companies recruit at WashU? Is it mostly for local positions or can you return to the coasts after graduating?

Son is a CompSci minor at WashU he hasn’t had issues with not getting classes.

There shouldn’t be issues with females in CS. Son had quite a few female TAs in his classes.

Recruiting is national-I am a parent volunteer for interview sessions and 2 of the alumni interviewers at the last event I was at worked for Google and Tesla respectively.

@Hamurtle Thank you!

Some of the introductory classes at WashU are going to be large. CSE 131 (the introductory programming class) is around 500-700 students. It’s a flipped class though and the only time you attend any classes are for the labs/midterms.

Upper division classes will be smaller obviously,.

I wouldn’t worry about not getting classes. Even though entering freshman register last, they will get into their classses without much problems. Which is the advantage of a private school as opposed to a public school.
