I was wondering if I should apply to cal poly slo through the early application. I am doubting if i should because I have researched the school for a couple months and it seems to be the best option for me due to my desire to pursuit a major in civil engineering however I have never actually visited the school so I don't want to totally commit. However, I would love to live in that weather, it has a great reputation, and it has a mens soccer team which I find perfect for my dream school. I am a first generation college student so my parents have no idea how this works so I would really like some input. Any Suggestions??? Also I was wondering if it would be better to apply in October with 60 volunteer hours or in November where I would have like 120 hours. I am currently a senior and I have a 4.15gpa with a 1700 SAT so I think I would have a great chance. The main thing is that I don't ant to commit and somehow end up liking another school better. Please help!!!

‘Early Admissions Decision’, or ED, should only be used if you clearly know that is your first choice school AND you can afford it regardless of financial aid.

At this point, you do not know that it is your first choice school, so you should not apply ED.
