Umm I'm not sure of all the details but it's small

They run out of dorm space and they rent out of a hotel during the school year for students to stay in and they have "cleaning days" and "room service" like any other hotel.

Have you visited the school? I was looking at it but wondering about the 73% freshman retention rate (the latest I could find was a U.S News rate from, I think, 2003-- maybe it's gotten better). I wasn't sure if maybe people decide that Kenosha is too small, or what.

I had never heard of it either. Out of interest, I looked it up on College Board. The most interesting thing I found was that - only 8% submit SAT scores, while 97%! submit ACT scores. I've never seen a school where more than, oh, 30% submit ACTs.

Their financial aid page has a diagram with which scholarships people automatically get if they have a certain combination of ACT score and GPA. They do work SAT scores into the formula but I'm sure that's why they have such a large number of people submitting the ACT. It's kind of cool-- I can see where people would like to be able to tell pretty much what they'd get before they even apply.

A lot of state schools and less selective LACs, especially in the midwest, get a large percentage of ACT score submissions. Without checking, I would say that most around the midwest get more ACT scores compared to SAT scores.

Yeah, thats the interesting thing about it. In the midwestern states they take ACT's. I've heard they dont offer the SAT its only students from outside the midwest.

I like the trend in the west/south, as many articles have tried to prove - the ACT is a better test. Too bad logic never beat out pretention.

Did you score higher on the ACT than on the SAT? You'll hear the loudest screams from that crowd.

Many schools in the midwest will have more ACT takers than SAT takers. Up until a few years ago, UW-Madison would only accept the ACT, then they switched to preference given to the ACT. Currently they will accept either. But because of that history, most college bound WI students only take the ACT. About 7-10% of WI students will take the SAT. It is available through out the state, but students in outlying areas will have to travel a bit to get to a site. Those who take it are students who do well on the PSAT and those looking to apply to schools on the coasts.

My daughter was accepted to Carthage with a nice merit aid package. The campus is in the north suburbs of Kenosha, Wisconsin. It is a small but pretty campus right on Lake Michigan. The buildings are a mix of some new, modern buildings (particularly the business department and the field house) and some 1950s and 60s style buildings.

Kenosha is small, but not tiny, and Carthage isn't far from Milwaukee and Chicago. Like many mid-sized midwestern cities, Kenosha fell on hard times, but the downtown area is coming back. Lots of suburban Chicago kids go to Carthage.

It's not my daughter's favorite school, but it's certainly worth a look.

Look at Michigan's test info.

I've heard of Carthage, I've also recieved mail from them I believe.

It's a very nice private school, I mostly like it for the small campus enviroment but the local public university, uwp is pretty small too, With all classes.
