a graph calculator?

Hi.

Im gonna buy a graphing calculator for a first time in my life. I heard ti-89 titanium was one of the best graph calculators. However, I don't want to spend over 150 dollars for it. I want a cheap calculator that can work for at least 5 years. Also, I want to know why ti-89 is good. Bye.

Hahahaha whenever I read posts I imagine someone talking and saying them. Love imagining this one.
You will use a TI-89 for the rest of your life. So suck it up, or if you need it for class, ask a teacher for a class calculator.
The plus costs more, and I think does a few more extra functions, but you really only need a TI-89 I think. Your English sounds awkward so I’m not sure if you live in the USA, but on Amazon you can buy them used for around $70, plus shipping of $5 or so.

Depends on what your school uses.

Mine uses TI-83. So if you have a TI-89, you can use it, but it’s just a lot more headache because you have to go back and re-figure out how to do everything. I guess it doesn’t matter so much for like Calculus… but for Stats… The kids who have 89’s in my class are dying.

Why don’t you ask your school what they recommend?

I got my TI-83 in 8th grade and it was about $100. They’re still about $100 and mine still works perfectly fine after five years.

TI-89 > TI-84/83 for calculus purposes. But you can’t use it on some standardized tests, like the ACT. My calc teacher doesnt like them, but that’s because they are the shizzz. But the AP test allows them. So depending on your grade level, get what makes the most sense.

With all of that being said, the TI-84/83 work great in calc also. I have written ten programs to find derivatives/integrals/etc on my TI-84+ SE

get the TI-84+ SE. It’s just as good as the 89 up until Calc, at which point you shouldn’t be allowed to use calculators on tests that much. The extra stuff on a TI-89 you can just do on wolframalpha.com.

^Because I’m totally gonna have a laptop in my calc class.

Ti-89 is jesus.

TI-84+ SE is the shiz.

Both are great, and for the calculus part, you really can program the TI-84 to do all the stuff for calculus.

^^not true. calculators are extremely useful in calc. i like what we do testwise. day 1-2 non-calculator, day 3-4 calculator.
