A guy who regrets 'cause got rejected from MIT and so went to Penn

there was a valedictorian of class of 2006 who graduated our school last year. We had two valedictorians, one went to Harvard (he was crazY), and this other dude, applied for MIT but got rejected. He applied penn for regular decision, and got accepted. But regrets that he went to penn instead of MIT.

I always go insane when i see those kind of people, (since my dream school always has been penn).

dude, different strokes for different folks. Don't assume that because somebody disliked Penn you'll end up in the same situation. There's no such thing as a "perfect college" and Penn isn't for everybody...

He may have wanted hardcore engineering. Penn's engineering is not hard core. Many engineering majors at Penn never work as engineers. They work on Wall Street or become doctors or lawyers. I am not sure, but would assume more engineering majors at MIT become actual engineers. I have a friend at MIT. She is not the most social person, but says MIT is not social at all. Penn is pretty social. Guess the grass is alway greener on the other side.

well, since he got rejected, it's not like he had a choice.

How does he regret???

Penn and MIT are very different both in academic and social atmosphere. It is not surprising that if MIT were his first choice he would not feel Penn was right for him.

i agree with crashingwaves. if you're hardcore engineer... MIT makes more sense. engineering here at penn is really awesome in that you can do all sorts of programs and there are all kinds of opportunities to broaden your education outside of engineering. my friend is doing an engineering and wharton degree, whereas another is balancing engineering with fashion design and construction... :) that's too bad about the guy who went to your school though. my personality is probably the opposite in that i want a broad education with opportunities in diverse areas, so penn suits me well. the social atmosphere is also just fantastic! i would really recommend coming to campus first to see if this type of atmosphere fits you.

I can relate. I wish I chose MIT.

UPenn has an Engineering School ?

or Are you talking about Penn State Engineering School ?

why are we gonna talk about penn state on a Penn thread?

plz go research: Penn SEAS. please.

and that's too bad abt ur friend. i think he should transfer somewhere better suited for him so someone else who rly loves Penn can take his place.

Please don't feed the troll.
