a hopeful email...

ok check this out u guys today I got an email from my admssions person asking me to send her a graded essay and some stuff about my IB extended essay... do they do this to everyone or does this mean that they are like srsly considering me for admissions. I don't wanna get my hopes up but i really cant help it....

oh thats great!!

congratulations. I am sure that's a very positive sign! :)

any othr thoughts? thnx

im no expert, but i would think it must mean they are seriously considering you

Just a thought, but wouldn't it be possible that they would like to compare your application essays with the ones that you have written in school? Considering that you are from Cairo (I presume), the admissions officer might be worried that you may have received help on your college application. The reasoning is that international students mostly do not request financial aid. Thus, one can assume that the wealthy students can receive help from private college counselors, who, as I have seen in my friends' cases, do complete the entire college application for a certain charge; as a dedicated writer, I consider such act to be unfair and pathetic, but that is the reality for those who are not confident with their writing. Anyway, perhaps your SAT Writing score wasn't up to par, but your application essays are extraordinarily well written? Again, it's just a thought.

possibly...but i am requesting fin aid and my writing score was very high so was my sat 2 lit

Then, I can only imagine that the admissions officer is highly interested in you as a prospective student. Good luck.

laxman18, Just to let you know, most int'ls ASK for financial aid.

i donno.. well ill send in my best work and write smthng honest about my EE and just hope for the best.. thnks guys

received an email requesting 2005 tax returns- what do you think?

2005 tax return means nothing, they are just asking for it for fin. aid purposes, they ask every applicant that applies for fin. aid

didn't apply for financial aid though

I got an email requesting some missing materials: IRS 1120 and Monthly Payment Flow. Does this email infer anything? The last day for Harvard's decision making, I read from somewhere, is March 21. Since we're so close to that dreadful or jubilant day, I would rather hold onto this email with an optimism. Whether this bubble of optimism will burst or not will be proven soon...

FA work is done in parallel with admission committee work. They do FA on all applicants just in case they are admitted. They like to give an FA estimate at the same time they give the yes/no decision. If you don't have all of your FA material in, you will still get a yes/no decision, but you will not know what your costs will be. Requests for missing material mean nothing in the admissions process.
