A Little Help Here...

I've applied to Indiana University and Miami University (Ohio); I have been accepted to IU and am pretty sure I'll be accepted to Miami. I am wondering if there are any scholarships that I could receive being just an average student who does not qualify for financial aid.

I go to a highly regarded high school and..

GPA 3.7 (10.2/12)
31/150 (I don't cheat on homework)
SAT I - 610V 640M (1250)
AP US History - 3
AP English 12- ?
AP Calc - ?
National Honors Society
Varisty Soccer
Science Fair
Founder of a Club
Student Council
Volunteer Tutor 2 Hours a week since 10th grade
Newspaper Staff - 10th grade year

I have looked into the scholarships offered by IU and MU, but since they are state schools they do not have much to offer to average students.

It's unlikely that either of these schools will offer major merit money, so you should focus on other types of grants/scholarships. I'd recommend looking for awards based on other factors - geography, ethnicity, major interest, parent or student employer, etc. Check with your HS counseling office for info on local scholarships, and the college's financial aid office for any programs they may be aware of. General sources like fastweb may give you some ideas, too, but you'll probably have to sort through a lot of inappropriate offerings. Good luck!

thanks, thats what i figured..i should have tried in school
