A little help would be great

Hey everyone,

I am an international student from France applying to class of 2018. I want to ED at BU but I need some help about those point:

0 - What is the credit system like? How does it works?
1- Is it possible/smart to double major in Computer Science and Business Administration ?
a) then, how my schedule would look like ?
b) is it doable?
c) what are the alternatives?
d) will it make my salary higher ? (I have a debt to pay back so it is a big concern)

2- Is BU a good place for startup and innovation ?
a) Is there a network of business angel alumni ?
b) Does anyone have ever founded a successful startup at BU?
c) Is there a good connection between student in differents fields?

3- I am taking 150,000$ in debt to pay my 4 years at BU, does it worth it? (I am talking about the return on investment)

4- Is it possible to cross-register at Harvard or MIT? (especially for CS classes, it could be great)
a) How is the CS dept. at BU?
b) How the professors are?
c) If I already now the CS fundamentals can I skip some classes?

5- How people are generally like?
a) Is there a good school spirit?
b) Do people hang out / work / do the both a lot?
c) Is there an intellectual atmosphere?

Thanks you all !!!

Anyone ? :)

Hi I go to BU and it’s okay…
0. The credit system here is typically 4 credits per class, with most students taking 16 credits. There are also 1, 2, and .5 credit gym classes that are taken at the gym, but they are pass/fail only.

  1. It is really difficult and not smart to double major in those two fields because they are in different colleges.
2.The average schedule I see here is typically 2/3 classes a day. Most students wake up for start class from 9-11:00 and some finish by 3, and some finish at like 10 at night. It’s up to you.
Yeah it’s doable but just realize that if you have two classes that are across campus, you’re going to need a gap in between them (more than the 10 mins they give you) or you will be late everyday.
Just be smart when you schedule and you’ll be fine.
The business school here is really high rated, but yes a minor or major in cs will make for a high salary. Currently, the highest salary jobs are in computer engineering

BU will set you up alright if you let it. My advisor always sends out internship opportunities and there are tons of ways to get academic help or guidance here. am pretty sure there is a business alumni network but not positive. And yes most of my friends aren’t in my major.

Are you really considering doing that?? NO NOT WORTH IT
NO NO NO NO ITS NOT. Apply, and see what financial aide you get but the most debt I would recommend would be like $30,000. Plus BU is more like $240,000 for 4 years.

CS department at BU is adequate, but nothing special. REALLY. A cheaper and comparable alternative would be SUNY Stony Brook, which is very strong in engineering for the low price.
Professors are nice, but even though I had background they didn’t allow me to go directly into higher classes because they want to make sure you know everything that will be required for those classes.

There is more school spirit than I though there would be and it gets anooying sometimes haha. People here are very casual and sporty. This is a huge school for people who like to work out and show off and stuff. It just is. And people do hang out a lot, but mostly it’s on Friday/Saturday night or at lunch or dinner. And to be quite honest, I don’t find this place to be particularly intellectually stimulating (sorry BU)
