A&M Vs. Alabama

<p>No, not in a football game--we all know how that turned out. </p>

<p>Son has not really heard anything from A&M since he was NMSF. He listed them number one on his NMC material and the letter he received from NMC indicated that was still the case. Has anyone else heard from A&M with any kind of formal offer? </p>

<p>Alabama has continued to pursue and the package is very generous, especially the freshman year (housing inlcuded in supersuite dorm, etc.). He visited Alabama last week and got the full VIP treatment and is leaning towards to them. He is very practical and believes that a major college (either one) will give him the chance to get a solid business degreee and a job. </p>

<p>In all fairness he visited A&M more than a year ago, it was not with NMF status in mind, just a good visit to see what could happen if he had a strong finish to junior year and good fall of senior year. They didn't get a chance to walk him through the process and "sell" him Mays B-school etc. I thought a visit to the Rec Center and a baseball game was enough on top of a visit with NMF office and formal campus tour, including Kyle Field. </p>

<p>Bottom line--has anyone heard from A&M with a formal offer? Has he possibly missed something in the mail, email or Howdy Portal? What if any eligibility restrictions do you know of for A&M offers? Bama is a 3.0 to keep it. He is in crunch time and needs any and all information to make an informed decision.</p>

<p>I believe A&M requires one to maintain a 3.5 GPA for the scholarship. We also did not recieve anything from A&M, so we called Admissions. We spoke to a very nice lady who deals with National scholars in admissions. She was very helpful, but I cannot remember her name. So, I would just call admissions. We received an initial offer explaining what we would recieve if son made A&M his first choice. When son did not make Finalist, we recieved a revised offer that we accepted. Just keep in mind that Business and Engineering programs at A&M are highly ranked and very competitive. So, they are oversubscribed and there isn’t much selling going on.</p>
