So I submitted my SUNY supplement (regular admission) to 6 schools online. This was on Friday. Before sending it, I proofread and it look good. However, I noticed this mistake a day later...

"...has taught me that I want to do in life is:"

Yea, I left out the word want <<. The reason I didn't catch it when reading out loud was because I thought I saw it in there. I read the word want out loud. Oops >_>

Other than that my application is pretty damn solid. Should I email/call these schools and ask if I can submit the updated .pdf? Would that draw attention to me and my application? Or, should I just leave it alone?

My essay is strong, and I am going to be a journalist major. My English grades are really high, so it's not like I can't write :P. But I'm hoping colleges see it as a human mistake and it doesn't really end up hurting me :/

Uhhh, the word “want” is in there, I think you left out the word “what”

It should read “…has taught me what I want to do in life is…”. That sentence is wordy and you should make sure at least one intelligent adult (other than yourself) proofreads your essays.

I would check to see what the website says about correcting mistakes; they’ll probably let you know if there is a way to correct it. If it says all submissions are final, then do not bother trying to contact them.

I am not familiar with SUNY, but I know the University of California schools only take your essay into consideration if you are borderline, otherwise they do not read it (unofficially).

I called and asked the schools and told them the extent of the error. Some schools said to send in a revised essay, others said don’t worry about it. Binghamton said to send in revision.
