a montrealer's chances?

hey,

during the past summer, i visited dartmouth and fell in love with it. i love the way the year is divided up, the opportunities, the atmosphere--everything...i am going to be applying next year and dartmouth is among my top 3 choices.

school:
competitive private bilingual school (french, english)
10th out of 90+ students
academic average: 91
courses: honours french, advanced math, english, advanced physics, advanced chem, music (school offers no AP courses), most rigorous load

i have not taken the SAT yet, but i did the french SATII and i probably scored higher than 750
extracuriculars:
figure skating for 10 years:
-medalled over 30 times
-i skate 4 times a week and i do off-ice training
music:
-honour band 2007, 2008
-senior concert band (flute, 5 years, piccolo, 2 years)
-junior concert band
-senior jazz (clarinet, 4 years)
leadership position:
-arts head of school
-i represent the student body involved in music, drama, and art
-founder of music mentorship program

academic honours:
-high honour roll (4 years, every term)
-gold honour roll pin (5 consecutive terms on honour roll)
-on government exams, i have scored in the top 10% or higher in the province on every exam
-top 5% of province in science exam

i also met with the head skating coach. although skating is not a varsity sport at dartmouth, the team has won nationals for the past several years. i expressed my interest in skating with them, and the coach said they would write me a letter of rec when i apply.

summers:
-columbia university summer program in chem, i also got a great letter of reccomendation, saying i was one of the top in the group
-harvard summer school or shadd valley summer program next summer
-daycamp counselor for 4-5 year olds

i am not strong at all in the SATs, but i am a hard worker. if this counts at all, i am trilingual, fluent in english, french, and hebrew.

thanks a lot in advance!

Maybe. Maybe not.

I think you've got a shot. But I'm not on the admission committee.

Hi,

You've done everything right. SAT will be huge, however, given your rank. I would really study and aim for a 2150+, probably a 2200+ to be highly competitve.

thanks for the replies. i know my rank is kind of low. my school is a very competitive prep school. and most of the people who are ranked numer 1-5 take the easy slack courses. i am going to try my hardest to aim for a high SAT score; i am going to start studying after my midterms and take it sometime in the spring.

just to add to my first post:
-i was awarded the duke of endiburgh bronze award (an award system that focuses on well roundedness)
-i skate at the senior bronze level (a test that a skated needs to pass to move up in competition ranks, and i was evaluated by skate canada judge)
-i am a member of jeunes democrates ( or young democrats, but i do it in french and it focuses on politics, history, etc..)

Even though the skating team isn't a varsity sport, they do sort of recruit students and it will help you in admissions. Definitely aim for a high SAT score
