A new EC every year?

so every year, i end up dropping a EC and do a different one the next year. Freshmen year it was Mock trial, HOSA, and Afghan student association, Sophomore year it was Debate, Model UN, and Track. Now its junior year and Im thinking of doing Cheer, Dance team, Track, and Lacrosse. I might pick up a few more this year since its a new school and they offer a lot of different things. The only thing im going to continue doing is writing for the LA times highschool website which i started doing last year.

Will it hurt college decisions that ive changed my ECs so much? if it helps, im most likely going to continue junior years ECs into Senior year

Colleges like consistency.
Obviously freshman year students try and change their minds, but then they understand what they’re good at and try to get leadership roles or make a difference.
Being in a club just to be in a club isn’t really the point and colleges prefer 2 activities you pushed to the max rather than 8 you were only a member of.
Why are you dropping these ECs?
What colleges are you aiming for?
(For many colleges ECs matter very little if at all).

I agree that colleges like consistency, but if you haven’t liked the things you’ve tried, it is okay to try something new. It’s better to do something than nothing.

In one of your essays or short answers, you may want to address this. Do you do activities as a way to socialize w it friends or meet new people ? What have you learned that you like ( and don’t ) from what you’ve done?

Try to show what you have learned, especially about yourself, from your sampling.

Can’t really say you couldn’t find anything to stick with. This is where “show, not tell” will bite a kid. Colleges that like commitment, or persistence, followed by increased involvement, more impact, aren’t going to see it. It can look like dabbling. Any chance of getting back into mock, debate, or MUN?

You aren’t in LA anymore, right?
