If your plebe to be has not received this info and won't until I-day, how will the parents know where to send mail, and how will we be able to shop at the Mid store?? I know this is probably trivial, but since I am losing my ability to be the "control freak" in the family, I was hoping for one last answer. Thanks

last year they sent "midstore" passes for the families to use during I-day in the permit-to-report packet.

as for the rest.....
might as well get used to it....there is no such thing as "control" anymore....
["what do you mean he can't come to the phone....this is his mother calling!"]

the term is "semper gumby"....
always flexible!

all will be revealed, in Navy's time!

best of luck- have a safe journey and enjoy I-Day! Congrats!

Not to worry -the mid store has a table set up & staff to help you complete a short form to get your "mid pass" to shop for the next 4 years. You and 1000 of your new friends will be in the same boat.. needing a pass. They are all so helpful you will be well taken care of. Refer to the parents program for the day, it has a lot of great info. This is on the main page of the USNA website.
Good Luck to you and your Mid! GO NAVY!!

received letter today in the mail with our mids no. co. & platoon

I'm O Company, 28th Platoon

C Company, 6th Platoon!

Krypter-
I'm also O Company, 28th Platoon. Im sure we'll meet in two days. Good luck to all!

Glitterhairdye, my son was in Charlie Company, 5th Platoon and now he's in
5th Company. I think 6th Company has a good group of Cadre!!

I company, 17th Platoon.

HOO-YAH! :D

Welcome to the Slack Six (or whatever they call themselves these days) fraternity! :)

(Of course, she won't get to read this for a few weeks.) ;)

Slack six, eh? I think they're Civilian Six now. Total opposites from their sister company, 5th company Rocks...who keep it "real"...hah...

Well, 5th and 6th were always rivals in my day, so that would seem fitting. ;)

Could someone in the know please provide an explanation of when the Brigade went from 36 companies to 30, and why that change was made?

Also, how is the Brigade organized now? I didn't think to look at the board outside Main(O) last time I was there.

Back in my day it was 36 companies divided into two regiments of three battalions each, with each battalion having six companies. Each company was three platoons, each with three squads, each with approximately 10-12 Mids.

Thanks.

Thirty companies, two regiments of three battalions each, each battalion with five companies. Each company, about four platoons, each platoon about four squads, each with 10-12 (?) mids. Not sure when they changed it.

Each platoon has 3 squads.

I don't why/when they reduced the size of the companies.

IIRC, the Brigade went from 36 to 30 companies when NAVFAC started the renovations of Bancroft Hall. One wing was taken out of service each year while the construction was accomplished. The result was 30 beefed up companies that never reverted back to the 36. It took eight years to renovate Bancroft Hall.

5th Company Rocks!

Z and DAnna... Slack Six and Civilian Six.. Not sure what you all mean? Please feel me in. Is 6th good/bad or just has a reputation?

DAnna .. arent you from Georgia too? I think I remember you from last year getting ready for I-Day! Fast Plebe year?

What a week we just had.. so glad to be back in ATL!

Mom2Lola: Yes, I'm from Georgia. Plebe year was pretty fast. Too fast. Now I can't brag about being a badass plebe any more. Haha.

Each company runs things a different way, and some companies have reputations for being stricter or slacker than others. 5th company is a little more "hardcore" than 6th. You'll see...

I miss chopping, sounding off, and reporting back already. I get so jealous of those plebes getting to sound off using sir sandwiches.

DAnna.. you make Georgia proud! Congrats on one year down. Where did you get to go this Summer?

I have no graduation requirements this summer.

I guess I'm doing CSNTS/YPs, grey hull, and (hopefully) MCTRAMID next summer (?)...we'll see. My friends got to go to Norfolk, Florida, Savannah, San Diego, Bahrain, Japan, Australia, Korea, Hawaii, et cetera. They got subs, sailing, YPs, and grey hulls. Lucky guys.

atrmom: I noticed him in the video too. Should we let him know, or do you think he knows already?
