quick question...

When exactly do we find out what company we're in? I just got my Permit to Report package, and nothing is stated in there except what time to report...so do I find out I-Day or is there more coming in the mail?

Previous year mids that I have spoken to seem really surprised that we aren't learning our company number and summer addresses like they did. I read somewhere, can't recall where, that this year's mids won't find out UNTIL the moment they report on I-day.

In my day, we didn't find out until I-Day.

Oh no! How am I going to get addresses for my CC friends so I can write to them, if their parents aren't on here?

um, i don't think its quite I-day, last year about a week to five days before I-day we were sent a letter with our plebe summer company letter/platoon number. your platoon number for the summer is your company during the academic year.

wheeleh44, I sure hope you're correct. This mom isn't going back with daughter, so I really want that address to have her first care package get there right after I-day.....

peskemom,

grandma now says that she would like to be at the ceremony They will be traveling back east "conveniently" at that time. If this is the case, I will let you know. We can exchange info and she can use grandmas phone etc... to give you the info.

you're so sweet oregonmom...thanks for thinking of me....it's been fun to communicate over these months, hasn't it?! :-)

Well if anyone wants to send me something just address it to:

The Old Man
USNA C/O 2010
Bancroft Hall
Annapolis, MD

I think that should make it to me. Oh and guiness is always an appropriate care package item. J/K we should be able to write letters when we get there and it is not hard to have parents or family log on here and disseminate the information. Hope all are well and I will see yall soon.

fergsonfire
there's a guy in 27th company, going into 2nd class year who came with 3 years subs then Naps....so we'll see who sets the record for the 'oldest' mid on entry!

i wont my birthday isnt until November I am sure someone has a july birthday that turns 23 plebe summer. Plus I have 2.5 years of service right now and I waited 2 years after high school to join

Ok now I don't feel so bad, just finished two years at another university and figured there weren't many others not straight out of high school...

Turning 21 during plebe year wont be too much fun however hahaha

I'll be coming from college as well....I turn 19 during Plebe Summer so I'm not really that old compared to the rest. I was really young for my class, so there are probably kids coming straight from high school older than me even though I went a year of college.

tjm787, you may be right. I am coming from high school and turn 19 on july 8, a week and a half in.

Yep...you are older. I don't turn 19 until July 31. At least this way I "fit in" more age wise instead of being 17 throughout most of Plebe Summer.

You're ALL pups! :D

I was 27 before going back to college. Sitting in a calc class with a bunch of 18-19 year olds is really quite humbling.

Lyzzybear:

I'll turn 20 on August 3rd after a year of college. And from what I've heard, if you're 21 or over during Plebe year, the upperclass may take you out occasionally...especially if it's your 21st B-day.

i find it highly unlikely that your upperclass will take you out during your plebe year, no matter if you're 21 or its your 21st birthday. i've never heard of them doing it, and if they did they and you would probably get fried.

Keep 'em straight Wheelah44!

Hey, Herndon's next week, right? Good luck and congrats on "surviving"!

Be safe this summer, a lot of us are counting on you folks!

GO NAVY! :D
