A penny for your suggestions

Hey guys

I am a Canadian male going into grade 11 in an IB school. I want to go into pre med in a good university in the states( top 20 preferebly?) I am not sure about my major yet. Unfortunately, i am fairly new to the whole american college process and have limited idea about which schools i should aim for. Thats where you guys come in. I need help making a list of safeties, reaches, and matches.

Preffered school(if i HAD to name one would be John Hopkins)

My ECs are nothing amazing but they will definately improve and i am planning to get around 400 volunteer hours( i am already getting 150 this summer)

To give you guys an idea of what kind of student i am...

SAT
Math:790
Critical Reading: 650
Writing: 710
Total: 2150 ( still have a few months to get it up to 2250)

Our school doesn't rank but im pretty sure im in the top 5%.My Grades in grade 10 pre-IB was 90 % average. I am assuming being in IB will give me a bit of an advantage. tell me if i am wrong. Anyways, thanks guys

What would you like in a school? As in what size, location, sports scene, social scene, etc.

thanks Ivan i will certainly PM you. As for tetrisfan, i would rather go to a large univ. located maybe in a suburban or urban area.

OK. What about financial issues? Can you pay full freight, or will you need aid?

i can pay for it and will need little to no financial aid. does that increase my chances and do u know roughly by how much? and any schools in mind yet?

The closer you get to the 20th ranked school, the easier it will be for you to get in.. If you don't need any aid and you bump up that SAT score and maintain your grades, you can probably easily get into any 10-20 university.

thanks for the admive S33D. yea i am definately looking to get my SAT up. hmm 10-20 are matches u say? name some schools? i ahve doen some research but i trust ppls opinions more. any names guys?
