A person does NOT need college or highschool to make it in life!

Ok new here to the forum, been reading this forum for quite some time pretty interesting forum. Now I am a highschool dropout,no GED,no highschool degree and NEVER attended college most people are thinking "wow you must fail at life",that is just the common stereotype and myth people assume of highschool dropouts.

I have my OWN business and make more money then alot of college and highschool graduates, when a person opens his or her own business it doesnt require any type of degree all it requires is a person to have money, and invest to the business here is how I started.

At 16 I quit highschool and basically at the time I couldnt find a job and I started hitting the streets doing drugs then I was send to jail for a whole year.By the time I was 17 I wanted to change but how can a highschool dropout with a criminal record get a job?

This is what I thought to myself,so I ended up doing another crime and spending another year in jail I got out when I was 18.So I was tired of going to jail in and out this is when I REALLY decided to change my life.

So where can a person with no highschool degree and a criminal record find a job? This is what I always kept asking myself then I remebered their OTHER ways to make money(not selling drugs ofcourse)so this is when I decided to become a car fixer,I have always been good at fixing cars(didnt need school to learn this),so I would put flyers in my neighboorhood for people who want their car fixed for a cheap good price can contact me and guess what??

ALOT of people would bring their cars to me,I would atleast fix 7 cars a week and make atleast one thousand dollars a week, some times more.I would get people from all over my city to call me aswell, heck sometimes I would drive all the way to another state just to fix couple people's car.

So I contuied on doing this for about 2 years, and by the time I was 20 I decided to use the money to open my own business.

Now at 21 I have my own business,2 kids,and a girlfriend(soon to be wife),and a good house.

So this proves a person can make it in life without school, now I am NOT suggesting for a person to quit school but if you do quit school have a PLAN!

Applaud You, my friend, would have a perfect admission essay for college. Just kidding.

Remember though, that college and highschool are basically a straight forward path to earning money. Without those credentials, you have like a low chance of actually making it big. Think of it like Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, and you VS the millions of thugs and gangsters parading through the streets.

I personally prefer taking the conventional route and don't think that 2 years in the slammer are particularily attractive prospects for my future and/or a good example for my 2 kids...your very poor english iz going to catche up with you soon...:)

...At least he thinks hockey is a sport...

fixer? mechanic?

Yes, you can be successful. It is possible. However, I would also suggest you take the time to take some classes at the local CCollege. Why? because if you "OWN" a business you need to have a basic understanding of taxes, bookkeeping, labor laws, investing and so on.... In other words, you need to smarten yourself up a bit to protect what you have...

Why do I have a feeling you work is under the table? :)

And also, I find it interesting that you would have the time to post here.. could someone be practicing a little creative writting? Fish on....

Good for you, but exactly why are you on CC if you have no interest in college?

Terry, yes it can be done. My H has HS degree, nothing beyond, owns own business, we drive a Mercedes and not asking for any financial aid to put 2 through college at the same time. However, and as I tell my kids, who knows what he could have done with an MBA? By the same token, I have an MBA, and I do not bring in any money (but I am thoroughly happy being a stay-at-home, torturing, I mean being here for my 17 year olds. Everyone takes their own path, makes their own life. Congratulations on all you have done. If I can offer one word of advice, from someone old enough to be your mother, put your family first, everything else somehow works out.

Some people are successful without an education but more people with an education are successful. It also depends a great deal on how one defines "success"; most people on this forum would not define success as a history of drug use, a criminal record, and becoming the parent of two children outside of marriage.

I'm sure you had some very nice things to say, but I was too distracted by the lack of a space after every punctuation mark to pay attention to the actual words.

"Remember though, that college and highschool are basically a straight forward path to earning money. Without those credentials, you have like a low chance of actually making it big.
College and highschool doesnt neccessary mean a person will have a big chance of making it,all it does is mean a person has gotten a education but does that make a person qualified for work?

And what you mean thugs and gangsters? My business helps thugs and gangsters nobody else will hire them accept me and its cheap labor too :)

Of course I put my family first,my kids are in a good home, good neighborhood, good environment and they go to a good school.

Well because as I was viewing the forum,it seems like when a person sees someone who drops out of school it means they automatically fail in life?Which is ********(but some do fail),i am here to show that CC or HS doesnt neccessary guarntee a person success in life many people think this "OH I finished CC it means I made it in life"that mentality is usually why they fail.

Well I am quite aware of taxes and labor, and how much I pay my clients I read some books and read tips on the internet before I invested in my business,school/class would just waste my time as I proven to be succesful without it.

And since my business is a private own one and not a government property not much taxes are taken out.

Actually not taking the 2 year route shows your kids, that you can be successful without any type of degree or school(of course I tell my kids to stay in school)and you may think those 2 years will help you in reality they are just wasting your time.

Their is a WHOLE world of chances,go out look and invest in a business and explore the world.

And as for the other comment about my "english",yes I make some erros on my grammar so what?

Nobody is a perfect human :)

The real question--will you encourage your kids to go to college?

"The real question--will you encourage your kids to go to college?"

Of course,why wouldnt I?

As I said I do NOT encourage people to quit school,if a person quits school they have to have a PLAN other then that education is the most important thing for my kids and since I am fincally settled I'm pretty sure by the time their in college I can pay for their college fees.

Some people see material success as an ends rather than a means, and it is to those that you should preach.

Everyone thinks if they get more education they get more money... Most people want something without doing much and I just don't see that happening in many people's lives.

And I know MANY people with education who now have no job why is that?

They thought this "Oh man I have a college degree or highschool degree it means I'll get a job and make money and I made it in life".

That is EXACTLY what many people have that mentality then years later they ask this "Wow I have a degree but I have no job"? or "I have a degree but I have a low paying job and I am in finacial trouble".

And I bet half of you people with education wont be as sucessful as me because of that mentality I mentioned.

I commend you for your success, Terry Davis. But that stereotype you're assuming up there is a tad too much of a generalization, don't you think?

Gee, at 21, you're a felon, and have 2 out of wedlock kids - not exactly my idea of a role model.

Also, I don't believe that you can work on current cars without any education at all - "I have always been good at fixing cars(didnt need school to learn this" - because virtually all cars nowadays have computerized systems, and require very expensive equipment to diagnose and repair. Where did you get the capital for your business? The days of going around with a simple toolbox and some spark plugs to repair cars are long over. Many trained mechanics that I know have had to go for additional training to keep up with the technology.

Makes me believe that this is a troll.
