hey guys,
I’m currently stuck on this. I’m business administration major now in a relatively not too famous school (University f California Riverside), with concentration on Accounting. I have a few questions can you guys please help me:

would accounting be considered as more female -like job? ex: nurse

would a phd be much better than a mba from a targeted top school?

what would a business admistration major be able to successful in job marketing? what jobs for BA?

would econ major bettre than BA at job markets? another word, would MBA program picking econ undergrads than BA undergrads?

Please answer them at your earliest convenience! Thank you!!

I'll see if I can help a little:
1. I'm not even going to waste time answering this one.
2. No. It really depends on what you want to do. PhD's in business administration are for those who want to do academic research in business fields/teach at business schools. While there may be some private sector jobs available, 1) the jobs will still probably be very research oriented, 2) the schools will not be geared towards preparing you for this, and 3) you're going to be living in near poverty for 5 or more years, if you are able to complete your PhD that is.
3. Sure. Search around on this board. Obviously, with a concentration in accounting you'd be well prepared for an accounting career. Speak to career counselors at your school.
4. It depends on what you want to do. If you want to be a lackey at the Treasury, for example, you'd be better off with an econ degree. For the private sector, it probably won't matter, and coming from UCR, a degree in BA might be better. And MBA programs probably won't care whether you majored in BA or econ.

thanks a lot nuveen,,
another thing im unclear is, so you are sayin for Business Administration major, a B.A degree would be better than a B.S degree?

what would a business admistration major be able to successful in job marketing? what jobs for BA?

For accounting, I think there are always positions open. But just because you are an accounting major doesn't mean you automagically get accounting jobs. And you certainly aren't limited to just accounting jobs either.

Not so sure about Business majors being BA or BS degrees, I though a majority of Business degrees were BS, some BAs are for Business Econ types, not sure for UCR though.

By BA I meant Business Administration. If you meant Bachelor of Arts, then you need to specify which major. Plus, most economics degrees are Bachelor of Arts degrees.

And yes, most Business Administration, like most vocational courses of study, majors are B.S.'s.

now im heading towards 3.3 gpa, this is my third year now, i quit all kinds of frat clubs, my heart is totally for my goal --> grad school. im full speed now, no one can stop me, no weekends, no life. i just want my GPA!

im thinking double econ with ba, but major still BA. planning to go MBA, not phd.

for MBA, which gad school do you guys generally recommend? i know Haas, USC, but which one is top in line ,(my work exp is 2 yrs as sales at Besybuy) so would i need additional work exp to get in?
