A Problem with NYU

Hello, Since my last post was deleted because the stupid site wouldn't load it I'll make this to the point.

I want to apply to the NYU Music Business program. I'm currently enrolled in a CC, and due to finish in winter 09. I have a gpa of 2.9, alot of EC's(music journalist for local indie paper, started my own record label, Publications Club member, and a whole array of school, and local performances), I have three professors who will definitely write recommendation letters for me with one of them being a Dept. head, and I guess being a minority(hispanic) with socioeconomic "difficulties" helps.

With my Spring 09 semester I was planning on getting a 3.5 gpa, become a member of phi theta kappa, and participate in my CC honor's conference which I have already been invited to. However for this NYU program they do not accept admissions for Spring 2010 transfer students so I'm pretty bummed out I can't follow through with my original plan. What do you think I should do?

a)Apply right now anyway with my current credentials?
b)Finish my 2 year degree in winter 09, use Spring 2010 to retake some classes that I got a C in?
c)Take a spring semester off after winter 09 to build up more EC's and apply in winter 2010?

or

D) Apply elsewhere?

All help is appreciated. Sorry if my writing comes off as a bit aggressive. I'm a bit ****ed at my old post not going through.

I'd go with option C or maybe B, but that's because that's what I've just done as a freshman applicant (gap year after high school to do film work before applying to Tisch). If you've got a lot riding on getting into NYU as a transfer it would be to your benefit to apply with as strong credentials as you can have. Also is there the possibility that if you go with option B, you could maybe fit in some ECs or part-time work? That might be better especially if you need to raise your GPA.

D is up to you, obviously.

Is this program within Stern? Do you have SAT scores? Are you asking for financial aid?

Thanks for the reply guys.

Thanks for your advice, and I'm glad to see you did something similar. I already work part time, along with my full time study. I can definitly add extra EC's if i go with option B plus the fact that my professional job resume isn't too bad (assistant manager to small business etc.). EC's would include honor's conference, phi theta kappa activities, and possibly something music related as well if I go with option B or C.

I will be apply for financial aid. The program that I'm applying to doesn't require SAT scores, and is part of the Steinhardt school. Not only that but I graduated high school about two years ago.

Your biggest issue is you need as high grades as possible to get much aid. So I'd wait to apply.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but NYU gives mainly/only merit aid, not need-based. I'd definitely wait.
