A question for anyone experienced in teaching in another country (specifically Asia)

I am currently a transfer student who will be starting at university in the fall...I was initially planning on being either an education or history major (as I have always loved history) but my true goal has always been to eventually work and live in Japan or South Korea (the two countries I have the most interest in) where I would like to teach in some form or another.

Someone suggested instead of majoring in history or education that I should major in international studies specifically Asian Studies. I am kind of mixed up about what I should major in in order to achieve my goals, and am just looking for some advice.

Thanks and sorry if this is posted in the wrong place or anything as I am a first time poster but long time reader of these forums!

Wow, I’m a year late on this thread. lol
I went to an international school in South Korea a few years ago, and most of my foreign teachers have majored in their subject matter. In your case, you should major in history. You could major in history (or history education) and minor in Asian studies.
As a Korean, I’m biased toward this, but work in Korea lol Working in Japan is just as good, but I am more knowledgable and experienced with international schools in Korea. If you have any questions, pm me or ask here!
