I'm vegetarian, and was wondering what whitman students thought of the vegetarian fare at the school ... are there a lot of vegetarians / vegans at whitman?

Bon Appetit, the company that provides the food at Whitman, definitely caters to special needs. At each of the four dining halls there's always at least one vegetarian choice at each meal, a well stocked salad bar, and often things like vegan cookies, pancakes and such.

You can find more information (menus, etc) here: http://www.cafebonappetit.com/whitman/

I'm not a vegan or vegetarian myself, but if you'd like even more info you could always email someone in Action For Animals (http://www.whitman.edu/afa/)

Hope that helps!

i have not yet visited whitman, but i visited lewis and clark, and they also use bon appetit. the food there was awesome. i am also a vegetarian, and there was a lot of stuff for me to eat.

This is a stretch but I visited Carleton where about 50% of students are vegetarian. The rumor was that Carleton is looking into changing their food service contract to Bon Appetit. Good kitchen access can also be helpful for vegetarians/vegans in college.
