hi!
i am an international student who aims to study in (mostly) a state university in US.
i am a rising senior and have done 5 APs (achieved AP scholar award with distinction) all through self study.

I am also doing IB certificate (5 subjects).

how does this look in the getting-into-college perspective?

anyone? im a little tensed…im basically concerned with only admission and scholarships…

Colleges say that AP tests aren’t really a factor taken into consideration, but if you can couple great grades with good scores on the AP, then the committee will definitely take notice.

ouch…the only reason i did APs (and dropped IB diploma) was to stand a better chance of getting admitted and getting scholarships…

I’m guessing that your school doesn’t offer much in the way of APs (because you self-studied when you seem the type to take as many advanced classes as possible). If that’s true, I think the APs would show that you’re willing to put in a great deal of work and further your own education when the resources weren’t necessarily there.

If your school doesn’t offer APs and you took the exams anyway, then they’ll do nothing but help, but don’t look for a huge bump.

I’m not a professional, but this is what I’ve been told.

You inferred correctly that my school has nothing to do with APs. Most students are doing IB diploma. Only i decided to do this. I’ve never heard anyone else do APs in my school.
