A quick little wondering about acceptances

I just had a quick little wondering, I few of my friends who have lower stats than me got accepted into UCI today. Before today the only people I knew that got in were the reeeeeaaally good people or people that had some interesting circumstances. Therefore, I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a particular order in which they sent out acceptances?

Also, does UCI pick by major? I put down Business for my major, but will that affect my (potential) acceptance in any way?

:] thanks to anyone who'll help clear this up for me

I don’t know the answer to your first question, but I would think no there is no order.

To your second question, major should not have an impact on your admission to UCI. Firstly, while Business Admin is impacted, should the case be that you are not admitted to the Biz Admin major, you will be admitted to your second choice major. Hopefully, your second choice major is not an impacted major.

So for those people who are thinking of putting down history or english as their major, just to easily get into UCI, it will not matter.

i put business down too :). Let’s just hope for the best, I’m sure its just random <.<…

im not sure but i think they might accept by major? idonno.

im waiting on business too loll i didnt even know it was impacted when i applied blah…

Yes, I’m pretty sure the order is based on major. No one has been accepted for business admin yet (including me). I’ve read that it is an impacted major.

My friend got in for Business during the first wave, so it’s not that nobody has gotten accepted with that major. My major (Business Info Mang) is also impacted and I got in with the first wave.

i hope they pick by major LOOL ;D hooray for european studies

i put econ as alternative -.-. anyone knows if that one is impacted. i think i have a way better chance getting in for that since i’ll be done with ap macro and micro which i took in CC

^, Business econ, right?

No, its not impacted. And in addition, it wouldn’t matter if you finished macro/micro, that will not help you for admission, if it was impacted.

uhh well my app says its just economics o.o. no business word on it great now i caught a fever today and yesterday i was super excited hoping to hear from UCI today but that didnt happen <.< least no rejection. I really hope now i get in <.<.

i got in business admin during first wave also

Does anyone know if chem is impacted?

They probably accept the high qualifying applicants in a major first and see if they accept/decline right away to get a feel for the yield rate. That away they can accept more students before too much time goes by. This is prob. why Cal Poly and SDSU notified so early, too. Just thinking…

^I do believe they do something like this, but this is not necessarily true for everyone. There are plenty of freshman still waiting with stats way above the average.

There is the ELC factor too. Isn’t that based on the top so much % of your high school class?
That can vary greatly based on the size and stats of your h.s. My h.s. stats are extremely high, and some kids with very high stat’s weren’t eligible for ELC.

hmm i put down business administration for my major
and put business economics as my alternate major

are they both part of the business school?
:[ i feel kinda bad for not putting something else for my alternate now

business admin is part of the Paul Merage business school,

business econ is part of the school of social sciences.

yeah i applied for Business Admin too and i haven’t gotten anything from Irvine yet T_T
