So I've had about a 3.5 GPA with a 30 on my ACT, and I've taken only 1 AP class but I go to a private, catholic, college preparatory school. I want to pursue the medical field, and I'm working on my 5th science class this year. However, I got a D, my second semester of Spanish 4, junior year (I am a senior now).

It is extremely hard to find a place to remediate this course and it is also highly expensive. Will this hinder me from being accepted here?

Also, any other reccomendations for schools in California that I should aim for with my statistics? I also play competitive soccer and I do a lot of service hours for my local temple as well as cleanups at parks. I have put countless hours in Soup Kitchens as well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer this question, it means A LOT!

Any chance you are taking AP or another Spanish class for Sr year? I’d think a first semester passing grade might help. I don’t know how USF treats D’s, I dunno if they are total deal breakers if everything else looks good, but, without looking it up, sounds like your overall stats are good for that college.

Loyola Marymount is another to look at. St. Mary’s in Moraga. University of Redlands is a little easier to get into, I have a relative excited to just start there because they build in a lot of opportunities to go abroad.

BrownParent,
No I am not taking another AP or Spanish class… They’re so hard to find and they’re super expensive. Considering it’s my senior year, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it up in time before the application process anyways…

I am actually a CA resident, in Southern California. So you think I could get into USF?

I do think you can get into USF, USD, maybe LMU, as well as some other Catholics, but since you’re Jewish, are you looking to continue in Catholic education?

Other schools to consider: Chapman, URedlands, and some middle and lower UC’s…Santa Barbara, Riverside, etc.

what about the Cal Polys? If you attend the HS that I think you attend, a few from your school go to Cal Polys.
