I am a current junior and I do not know if I should apply to Questbridge. If I do apply and get into their program, then I cannot apply to JHU Early Decision.

On the other hand if I don't apply to Questbridge then should I do ED to JHU or apply RD and also apply to Direct Medical Programs (Penn State, Northwestern, Boston University). Would I stand a chance RD to JHU and all of those medical programs. If I got in ED to JHU would I survive their academic rigor with my stats and potentially go onto a good medical school? AHHH!

I'M SO CONFUSED!!! What to do? =[

anyone have any suggestion?
it would be very helpful

thanks!

As a fellow science research (and junior, and same ACT score), I am very impressed with some of your stats. I won the Questbridge College Prep Scholarship, and in the process opened up my eyes to the College Match. I actually do not intend to use it though. You have to rank the colleges, and only the top 8 actually receive the application. Now, the simple answer is that your chance is the same as everybody else, but in reality that is not true. There are things you can do (and have done) to increase YOUR chances but everybody elses chance is similar.

Your stats place you on the level of every other student who is applying to these colleges (including myself). You have the quantitative, but the qualitative is what will need to set you apart. Clearly you’re focused on science which is great, but you cannot forget that there will be countless other kids who are in the same clubs and are doing research just as we are. Don’t just make it a summer thing, continue it year round if possible. It shows you are committed to brain research and not just doing it because you have time.

And on your app, make sure you highlight things which are important (hint: look up what a brag sheet is). For example, ‘medical lectures attended’ is not all that fantastic. ‘Medical lectures GIVEN’ would be pretty awesome. I have been researching so long that I’ve given lectures at Ivy League schools.

I personally think you should apply ED to JHU but not through Questbridge. I’m worried about the process because of its weird way of doing things. I for one am applying to more than 8 schools (why, I do not know) and find the need to rank them sort of arbitrary since I want to go to all of them equally if I got in (common sense: that’s why I am applying to those schools). Apply where you see yourself going, and maybe I’ll catch you there. Message me!!

So you are saying don’t do Questbridge just do the ED to JHU and attend if I get in?

any other advice? please
