Hey guys,

I just wrote a pretty “out-there” essay for my response to *Why Penn? * I’d really love to hear a 2nd opinion before I send it in!

Would anyone mind taking a look? Drop me an e-mail at (Raven[AT]ultraSW.com) if interested, or just reply here with an e-mail where I can reach you.

Thanks!

I'll read it,

Are you sending this late?

Arizona? Why...I will help a fellow Arizonian. catchyboomboom@yahoo.com

Thanks for the quick reply - you have mail =) Yeah, it's going to be slightly late -- I didn't realize the post office was closed on New Year's day, as well as today (Sunday). My applicaiton will be mailed tomorrow though....

Catch-22 -- it's sent. I'm applying to Hunstman as well... congratulations, by the way :D

Fantastic. I'd think about putting a couple more examples in about the campus or why you want to go there, though. It's short, so you should be fine.

I did a risky one, too, and I realize now that I put too many real examples in and not enough of a personal touch. If you can balance humor and information better than I did, you'll have a great essay.

Nice work.

Thanks for the comments, GhaleonQ. I suspect that some people will love it, others will hate it; it'll be interesting to see where the majority of people fall.... Excellent point about incorperating more Upenn examples though. Thanks again :)

Talking about Philly is always a plus :)

Good luck. It'd be nice to meet another person that has my sense of humor on the campus.

Hopefully, we both get in.

crosses your fingers for you

Thanks for the idea, athlonmj. Google tells me that there's an Irish Memorial at Penn's Landing in Philly, so maybe I could use that somehow =D

I added the following line, just for you athlonmj :D

In addition, I love Philadelphia from the lively city atmosphere to the marvelous Irish Memorial at Penn's Landing. You should know that the Irish have quite a history in this fine city, and I certainly intend to carry on this rich tradition!

Another addition :)

I am overjoyed to learn the OPenn has embraced its Irish legacy - and with classes from ENGL 078: Irish Comedy to LING 233: Advanced Irish Gaelic, I know Ill be in for a treat!

Alright.. off to a family dinner for now - thanks for the comments thusfar. When the rest of you who I've sent it to reply, know that my response may be dealyed (as I'll be out and about). Thanks to everyone for taking the time though!!

I liked it ok. HAHA. It's definitely not something I could've written, but it suits you. It's so happy...the essay, yay yay yay for happiness :). I like this particular approach, and I think it's gonna shtick out (let's hope that). It wasn't a risk, btw. Nicely done. Good luck! What language are you applying for?

Thanks for the feedback Catch :) I'm shocked to hear you call it 'not risky' though(?) Out of curiousity, did you write your essay more geared towards huntsman or penn? forever21, ill email you when I get home - thanks!

I didn't mention Huntsman/wharton at all. I talked about Penn...and a lot of other things. I think my essay wasn't the norm: I've never visited Philly, so, no references to city/campus.

PM if you want... I would love to take a look
