I guess hitler is a pretty good example

should i provide a concession?
so if i'm arguing for point A, should i recognize point B as well?

bumpppppppppppppp

Matt: Do you mean like, should you admit that there's another side to the question, like opposition?

That depends--if you can calmly and smoothly make a concession but lead back to your argument, then that's excellent. I don't think, however, that people with only 25 minutes can take the risk of looking like a fool by making a concession.

If you can, go for it, but keep in mind that you're making a risk. I know that I wouldn't dare take that risk with only 25 minutes of time!

do you think it would it be bad to make references to tv shows or movies

Make it very very very very long

pramirez: No, not necessarily, as long as you have a relevant example and lots of commentary and explanation that reveals your thought, movie examples are fine, although I think the readers have a preference for literature, history, or personal experiences. You should do TV examples if you really can't think of anything else or if you think your TV examples is really really good compared to others. Keep in mind that the readers want to see your thinking and they want to be impressed that you could have so much to say and say it in such a well-organized and well-thoughout way in only 25 minutes. That is the characteristic of the 12 essay.

That's exactly why people are telling you:

Make it long.

Use big words.

Make it well-organized: the more paragraphs, the better.

Have relevant examples with lots of details and support.

Give it a great introduction (first impressions are very important) and a decent conclusion with a lingerer.

They're telling you to do this because doing these things well in only 25 minutes is very impressive.

I'm curious, is using big words actually necessary? I don't think you need big words, but it would be a plus if you used it in a way that doesn't sound like you're showing off.
