Did you guys simply apply to the schools that you applied to because they were good schools or Ivy Leagues, or did you actually take the time to research and get a feel for the school that suited you? The nature of this thread just makes it seem like some people just “Ivy Spammed.”

williams93, you make a good point. “Ivy Spamming” is really common. I would not call myself an “Ivy Spammer” however - I purposely chose the Ivies that I did based on the programs available for my prospective major. I also took into account the distance from the school to my relatives - who live in Buffalo (nearest to Cornell) and my grandparents - who live in Rhode Island (nearest to Brown). Hence, I didn’t bother with Columbia, Harvard, or Princeton even though they might be deemed “the best schools” by some.

My plan is rather simple actually. If I get into UVA (which is scheduled for April 1st but normally comes out around March 26th), I will not even bother checking my Ivy decisions on the 30th.

If I’m denied at UVA, I will proceed in this order:
Harvard - No shot in hell
Dartmouth - Have you seen pigs fly?
Penn - I will grow a thrid nipple before this happens
Cornell - Coin toss

When I originally started thinking about college stuff, I certainly had the “if I apply to all of them, hopefully I’ll get into one” mindset. But once I started applying and visiting schools, I realized some schools would simply not be a good fit for me, so I decided not to apply.

I spammed them all and got into 4
