A student who can't choose between Brown and Dartmouth

Hello, I am a Korean-American student living abroad. To be honest, Brown has been my favorite school for months, but I recently heard that Brown is real tight with money. Is Dartmouth generous with dinero? I can't really decide where I should apply ED

And by the way, please evaluate my chance for Dartmouth ED

Even though I have US citizenship, I speak only Korean at home, and English is my second language. I have been under American curriculum for 3 years.

GPA: 3.70/ 4.0 (The maximum GPA is 4.0, not 4.3. Anything above 94 is an A and something in between 84 and 93 is a solid B.)
SAT I: 2270 (710 C/R, 780 Math, 780 Writing. I will take it again in Oct.)
SAT IIs: IIC 790, Chem 770, US history 700 (crap)
APs: I haven't checked my scores yet, but I have taken AP Chem, AP English Lang. and Comp., and AP US History.
TOEFL: 280

Senior year schedule: AP English Literature, AP Calculus AB, AP Biology, AP Spanish Language, Physics (1st year), Global Issue (real easy class), and Strings (which is the same as "orchestra" class in American public schools)

My GPA for the first semester of junior year is really crappy. I got something like 3.15, so my cumulative GPA went down significantly. However, I bounced back by getting a 3.75 in the second semester.

* Starting Defensive Back for freshman football team and Varsity track in 9th grade (my current school doesn't have teams for Track and Fields and Fball. Therefore, this prolly doesn't count at all). I don't play any sports at this moment

Despite my "mediocre" GPA, do I have a shot?

Yes you do have a shoot, apply to Dartmouth for EA..

The money yes......maybe check this out http://www.dartmouth.edu/apply/generalinfo/news/

If financial aid is a big consideration, you shouldn't apply ED.

neither school gives generous financial aid to international students
in fact...very few schools do apart from harvard, princeton, and yale

hes a US citizen living abroad, hes not considered an international

I would say that if money is real tight you should apply RD.

go for D.. we rock! money wise if you are not an international you will be fine

I had a hard time choosing between Brown and Dartmouth. It took me a long time to decide. I ultimately choose Dartmouth and loved it, but I would have loved Brown as well. You cant go wrong.

i second that!

Is it necessary for you to retake your SAT? I think it seems fine, especially considering english is your second language, but I'm not an expert so don't go by me

They are both excellent schools, though being an obviously biased member of an obviously biased board, I would pick Dartmouth any day ;) I do know someone going to Brown though.

And yes, you do have a shot. For what it's worth, you have my SAT score.
