A theory of mine...

Maybe USC only sends out acceptances for their highest level applicants and scholarship choices in order to be more appealing as a choice to these students...then they send out their other acceptances around april 2 like they say on their website and stuff...

anybody agree?

maybe this is just wishful thinking since I havn't gotten anything yet

it's possible. why doesn't somebody call usc and ask them how they manage acceptances? see if there's any order that they follow.

The decisions that are most obvious go out first.

this is very true...around 10 people in my school got accepted to USC yesterday and every single one of these kids were the brightest of the brightest in our school (i got accepted too =p)....so for people with mediocre stats don't act like you've already been rejected

It's not a theory of yours. It's fact.

Well, they wait to see how many of the "top tier" students commit, then they have an idea of how many seats they have for "regular" admission. After that they give the rest of the seats for transfers, I guess.

I have a friend who got ed at Stanford and still hasn't committed to them yet because she wants to see what other offers she gets. I'm not sure that USC can tell yet who will commit from the early waves until they get closer to the May 1 deadline? The high performers probably get multiple offers?

I applied by the scholarship deadline, yet haven't gotten an acceptance yet. Maybe this is b/c I'm not "top tier"????? My grades aren't bad but are nothing like the typical CC student. Maybe there is still hope..............

I took a friend's daughter to interview on campus last month, and she was told by the professor that the vast majority of acceptances go out around April 1st. If you receive a scholarship interview letter in Jan. or receive a March acceptance, you are almost certainly "top tier" and someone they are most anxious to get.

Just FYI for whatever it's worth...

I was thinking in terms of "top tier" of being like in the top 15% or so of accepted students...so I would not worry at all.

Most likely, the majority of acceptances have not yet been sent out.

Yeah, I really wish they would tell that to my parents because obviously they aren't as psyched as I am by this.

lol our parents r opposite. ur trying to convince your parents that u still have a chance while my parents r trying to convince me that i still have a chance. lol

ucplaya05: same here. hahaa

bump..........

when were rejection letters sent out last year? can someone at least send me the thread where it's been discussed?

I thought it's first week of April (which includes April 1st)

But you all are saying that majority of the acceptance letters will be sent out on April 1st?

Well I've known a few idiots who have got in recently so there is hope for you all (not that you all are idiots, of course). Their acceptances actually really dampened any desire for me to go to USC (I've already been accepted).

what do u mean by idiots?

You might be surprised how academically strong some immature kids can be ..

my friend got in with ok grades and ok SAT last week

but he's also a superstar in india. he's considered the top young classical singer, so after usc, he's moving back to india to be rich and famous.

Nope, not immature. Intellectually and academically lacking. You might be thinking they're intelligent but don't shine through in school for whatever reason, and I agree that students like that exist and I have indeed met a few, but it's completely off-base here.
