A thread with more emotion and less questions

my sats are terrible: 1130/1670

They are, i think, the only thing SEVERELY holding me back...i hate those damn things! Vanderbilt is the only top school im applying to...i have Boston University, Northeastern, Rensselaer, and University of Rhode Island (which im accepted into...bleh)

AP scores come out in July. That would be way too late for Vandy to look at them.

I like my school. The teachers really care about you.

You have a shot, though your test scores are pretty not-okay. I think I said this in your thread but... "expect the worst and hope for the best!" =]

Man there are people that go to Vandy with 23's and 24's on the ACT. Just pray and make sure your application was strong in words outside of numbers.

"I emailed the person for the interview, she said a date, i responded but havent heard anything back yet...

Can you still take AP exams without having taken the AP courses? (Stupid question i know)

We have "Honors" courses, which are for college credit and I've only gotten A's in them. I posted a "chance" thread, just to get some opinions and its unanimous....my test scores suck...sigh

I'm hoping the interview goes well, and that being a first gen college student helps me...but i'm not very hopeful =[

I should have went to LaSalle or Hendricken, but we couldn't afford the private schools..."

Well you could have dual enrolled at a local cc or college like I did (many offer it for free.cheap) if you didnt have any aps to take (althoguh I still took 9). Most homeschoolers I've seen who shoot for top colleges end up with immense amouunts of credits from CC's. Yes you can take the exam without taking the class and that would've definatly helped. Also i doubt Vandy would recognize a regular "honors" course for credit, is this something that is only recognized by a local college, U ablbany does something similar here. AP's/IB and Classes take at colleges really should only count for credit. too much avriables from school to school in determining wether a class should count for creidt if you get what i mean.
