A Transfer Thread

This is what it says when I login:

Welcome [First name] [Last name]!
Application Complete

Your admission application is now complete. Decision letters for Freshman applicants will be mailed in late March. Decision letters for Transfer applicants will be mailed by May 15.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email our application coordinator, Kathy Hoblitt.

Periodically we communicate with applicants via email. Please adjust your email settings to allow emails from admission@reed.edu and appcoordinator@reed.edu. Additionally, please check your spam folder regularly for messages from Reed.

Our records show your contact information as what is listed below. If our records are incorrect, make the necessary updates and submit the form below.

It’s something entirely different from the Admissions log in site. I’m pretty sure they emailed me that information. It’s basically a random mix of numbers and letters. So, not too sure there.
This is sooo agonizing…

If I remember correctly, I think I received a finaid pin because I indicated I would apply for finaid on the application - I don’t think I had sent any finaid in when I got it. I’ll need to sift through my emails to be sure, though…

So wait, you’ve only sent in your CSS Profile and that’s it i.e. no other financial aid information?

I just checked my email, and I got the pin from indicating on the app that I would apply for finaid. At the time I received the email with the pin, I had not sent either the Fafsa or CSS or any documents pertaining to finaid

Here’s a what the email said, sent april 4

“You have indicated on your application for admission that you plan to apply for financial aid for the 2011-12 academic year. All admission applicants can now check the status of their financial aid application online.”

@mardan mine doesn’t say that! That’s weird. Mine’s basically a long list of things…

I have everything sent in for my fin aid. They even asked for my certificate of naturalization. I’m pretty sure it came in an email.

GOSH, I’m too anxious. I’ve never been this nervous in my life. Where else did you kind folks apply? My top choice is actually UChicago. Second is of course Reed  I also applied to Northwestern and am waitlisted at Whitman (both of which are tied for 3rd choice); Kenyon (4th); and finally, Santa Clara (5th).

Did any of you send in updated transcripts (I’m on the quarter system at my community college) and a letter of continued interest? I did this to Reed, so hopefully it isn’t taken negatively.

@skippedabeat Mine WAS a long list of things, but then it got updated a few days ago to exactly what I posted a few replies above.

To my knowledge, your admission status isn’t effected by whether or not you sent in your financial aid information, correct? I’m just worried because I haven’t sent in ANYTHING other than the CSS Profile and FAFSA. I’m sending in the IDOC packet, a non-custodial parent information wavier, and all of those other things this Friday via priority. If I get accepted, I’m sure that they’ll still offer me financial aid, yeah?

I’m thinking out-loud… sorry

@mardan I think that’s fine, since they have the CSS and FAFSA they can generate your need. I’m sure the other stuff isn’t due til later as well, I just submitted everything super early to get it out of the way.
My top choice is Reed, actually. I was admitted at Whitman and Lewis and Clark so far. Still waiting on Reed, Colorado College and Macalester. So nerve wracking! Transfer admissions is crazy stressful, especially since next week is finals week.

I sent in my mid term grades to Reed, and I also emailed an “update” to my application about what I’ve been up to that’s notable, but she never said anything back…

@skippedabeat Hopefully she took your e-mail and added it to your file. When I sent an e-mail of continued interest to the UChicago admissions representative for my area, she said she added it to my file; so perhaps that’s common? Anyways, I wish you the BEST and hope you get accepted as a Reedie. Just remember: we can’t control the winds, but we can adjust the sail. Yeah, it’s cheesy… but wherever you go, be a student of life who constantly pursues scholarship (LIFE OF THE MIND)!

Thanks! Good luck to you too! I emailed her tonight so hopefully she gets back to me tomorrow and I will know of my fate!

does anyone know if transfers are guaranteed on-campus housing? I know Reed has several “new” dorms, but I do not know if that is just enough to accommodate the current student population/incoming freshman.

Does anyone know when committee meetings end? I know they were deciding on mine this morning and I’m really anxious as to when I’ll get an email from her today…

Do you guys think it’s okay if I gave them a call to ask about my admission status (given that my admission application is complete like I stated earlier)?

Sorry, I have no idea. I am way too nervous to email the admissions office about it :-/. I was browsing through last years admissions threads and the decisions were given out slightly earlier.

Do you have a May 1st deadline or something really soon? I know I told them that and that’s why she’s giving me a decision earlier than most. I think they are sending out ALL decisions officially on May 13th. No email yet… SO nervous.

Damn it… I have no idea. Since I can’t hibernate, I’m just going to smoke tons of pot and live in hyper-reality until decisions come out :p

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!

Hahahaaaa. I’m writing a paper on the Rastafari movement, which is the academic way to smoke pot I think.
She STILL hasn’t emailed me back. It’s 3 PM there. I’m dying here. I’ve been staring at my email for so, so, long.

I suggest everyone wait for the decision on the date, with the exception of those who had made prior agreements with the counselor.
