Thank you for taking the time to read this, please chance me! I know this is long and I am sorry. Thank you and I really appreciate it.

bump bump bump!! please change me!!

I wish my school offered AP Psychics.

I would like to note that I am also part of the MIT Free Culture Group too.

Why don't you have an actual SAT I or ACT score? Any AP or SAT II scores? Your post is well organized, clear & interesting, but it lacks substance with respect to hard numbers.

I haven't taken the ap exams yet may is when I will be taking them and I predict that I will be hopefully getting 5s. Should I bother taking the ACT? I heard its easier, is this true? I also have not taken any real SAT exams just practice ones. Is there anything I can do to improve? I will be taking the SAT II's this June with my SAT. Can you please chance me on the schools listed?

And it took me forever to make my post, with by using all the bold, underline, and etc codes lol!

Without actual standardized test results, chancing you for your listed schools would only be an uneducated guess and an exercise in futility. The ACT is easier for many, but not all, students. The ACT is slightly more of a learned abilities test, while the SAT I is somewhat more of an IQ assessment exam. Fluency in Farsi may be a strong plus at some schools such as Georgetown & Tufts. Your original post is a bit confusing regarding where you are in high school, and, if it is in the U.S., when did you come to the United States.

Would you suggest taking both or just one?

It will not hurt to take both the SAT I and the ACT exams; in fact, it can help as you get to pick & chose the better result.

ty for the help icy9ff8.

any other chances, and tips?

bump bump bump

It's really difficult and not really worth anything to chance someone with no ACT/SAT scores. Sorry man. Post again after you take them.

Besides thats, everything else looks solid.

this is the neatest, most organized "chance me" thread I've ever seen on CC.

I also think this is very interesting. You look like you have a decent chance, but HYP are a crapshoot for most the people who have the stats. You might want to shoot higher for SATs, but 2100 is nothing to sneeze at. Also, you must take SAT II tests, at least three for HYP. Do that soon before you lose the information, because those are strictly knowledge, not aptitude. As for the essay about muslims and 9/11, it might be cliche among muslims, since almost any American muslim can attest to that, and that is what a lot of my friends will adress in their essays(being a muslim in America...). I think it is a good topic, but make sure you are extremely specific and make it unique to you. Make it so that it is not possible that the same essay could come from another American muslim kid. Otherwise, keep doing what you are doing, but you might want to take the sats and sat IIs soon.

bu and uconn def in
probably nyu too

sorry, i cant give a good opinion for the others

unless those harvard reps have sway with the adcom, and they really do want to pull for you, sorry but i don't think you have a good shot at HYP. i don't think schools look at what country you're from so much as race/ethnicity. south asians are NOT underrepresented minorities.

here i'm assuming you live in the US right now, which it seems like you do (i can't tell)

unless you live in Afghanistan RIGHT NOW and have an essay about living through occupation(!!!) or something earthshaking like that i don't think the afghan thing will necessarily help you that much ALTHOUGH speaking more languages is helpful than less and may help more at a school like Georgetown's School of Foreign Service.

Just curious how does being Afghan not help? I mean how many people do you know that apply to HYP that are Afghan?

Anything else I can do to raise my chances?

Even with SAT scores, 'Chance me' threads are "uneducated guesses".

Are you sure being an Afghan makes you a URM? There may not be many Afghans applying, but there aren't that many Afghans in the U.S. to begin with (compared to Asians or Caucasians). So are you really under-represented?

did you not read what I wrote? just because not many afghans apply doesn't make you a URM and therefore more desirable. schools will look at you as a south asian. south asians are OVERrepresented minorities at most schools.

unless you are living in afghanistan RIGHT NOW or IN THE RECENT PAST and have a tale of hardship from living in a war-torn country, being an afghan is like being ... vietnamese or something. there's probably not a lot of vietnamese at HYP... but there's already way too many East Asians. Get it?
