A unique Notre Dame applicant

From what I’ve heard, I’ll likely hear back from Notre Dame at the end of this week and I really don’t know what to think of my chances. Different people have told me a lot of different things so I figured this would be a good place to figure out what kind of a shot I have:

White Roman Catholic Male
I attend a Jesuit College Prep school.
95 GPA
Top 15 % of class
6 APs
Hook: (I don’t say any of this to boast)
-I started a successful company sophomore year and was voted America’s Top Young Entrepreneur of 2015. I won a National Entrepreneur competition and had the chance to appear on Shark Tank. (I applied to Mendoza)
There are a bunch of other things which make my resume really stacked…BUT…

The only problem is: I never took standardized test well.
Highest SAT was an 1810

So I’m wondering, How much does my business and entrepernial success really matter? Does the SAT score automatically knock me out?

It is obvious you have talent in entrepreneuring. However, for such a prestigious college like Notre Dame, top 15% gpa isn’t anything special, in fact it hurts your chances. That 1810 SAT will be really bad on the application. If I were you, I would aim slightly lower, as those colleges will see your bright spots and make exceptions to your SAT score.

You hear back in a few days. Relax and try not to think about it! You have a great shot with your phenomenal entrepreneurial ECs, but it’s honestly a lot to do with chance. Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll try not to worry about it. I don’t really know what to think because you can’t exactly categorize my application. I can’t exactly look at past results and see how other people like me did. But like you said, I’ll guess I’ll find out in a few days

Your stats are generally weak but your business experience does matter and could tip the scales for you. Best of luck, I am currently awaiting ND results with a similar GPA/rank situation. They are known to prefer highly-ranked students.

I just realized though that my school doesn’t rank. I only know where I stand in my class because all of the students kinda keep track themselves haha (very competitive)

But yea, thanks. Good luck to you too!

.

I hope you got in. I’d take you. A lot of people get high test scores, not many start a successful company. Even if it doesn’t work out, I’m sure you’ll do fine regardless
