I’ve read colleges will typically consider all A+ grades that you’ve gotten to be regular A’s when they’re looking at your grades/transcript. Is this the universal rule, or are there any top colleges that are exceptions to this and will count your A+ grades? Throughout high school, around half or more of my grades have been A+, but I don’t think that’ll do any good.
I’m sure it doesn’t make a huge difference in the long run, but I am curious about if those grades make any difference on my transcript at all. Would an admissions officer even just subconsciously acknowledge it?
It depends on the school.
that would make sense because a lot of school systems dont include A+'s. Mine for example just goes up to A
A+ in your school may be B+ in another one. It will be viewed in the context of your school. Afterall, there is little difference between A and A+ anyway. Don’t overestimate the importance of it.
Yeah, I guess it would be unfair to high schools that only go up to an A if colleges decided to count A+ grades.
However, I do think that in the context of my school, A+ might at least be slightly valued. Only a small handful of people from each grade get high honor roll each year to begin with.
It won’t be valued because it’s an A+; it will be valued if in the aggregate, your resulting rank is on the high end.
A+ with no context is meaningless. Some teachers give them out like candy. Some teachers have numerous extra credit opportunities, etc.
