A Weird Transfer Situation

Hey guys, I’m looking for some insight as to my chances of being accepted at BU. First off, my Dad actually works there. Supposedly, children of employees get preference to some degree.

However, I applied to BU once before for last year and was rejected. They told me I needed to prove that I can handle college course work. My SAT was 1260, I had a high-school gpa of 90/100, and my essays were so-so. My math grades in high school were not very good.

I am currently at a Community College. I got a 3.9 and made Dean’s List with one honors credit in four courses last semester (however, I didn’t take any math), and so I reapplied for COM for Fall 06’. I wrote my essays about my experienced volunteering with Hurricane Katrina victims on Cape Cod. I also got a recommendation letter from a BU alumni who is a published author.

So I think my chances are definitely improved. But I don’t know…I’m really nervous, because I want to go there more than any other place. I know I didn’t exactly improve my math scores, per se, but as I am applying to COM I feel like this might not be as big a deal. What do you guys think?

You should be fine.

I'm surprised that you were rejected last year. I think you may have been rejected because you are the son/daughter of an employee. If BU accepted you, then they would have to pay for your education.
