A2Wolves and other IU students, How did you do?

Now that your first semester is done? How were your grades...better or worse than expected?

My son just got his final grades today. He made honor roll (honor roll is 3.5 or above--he had a 3.52) in his first semester at IU. Still, this was slightly less than he was expecting (3.63). He had a couple of really tough finals in Accounting and Economics that brought down his grades in those two subjects.

I think he's pretty happy about his result, though. His high-school GPA was only 3.3 unweighted. Also, he told me he thinks he'll do much better next semester. The adjustment involved in being alone 1800 miles away from home at a new school took some time.

5 grades reported... still waiting on my one blowoff gened class...

Hopefully, I will make a 3.6+

My proffesors were not nice in rounding: psychology: 89.666666 = B+ (***?) finite also had an 89ish. Destroyed my GPA there.

I like how gen ed classes make your GPA go down (at least for me). Business classes are much better. A100 is the hard class (suprisingly i got a flat A in that class0.

yea for a100 his curves (especially since he still counts the exam score over 100) really help.

My son was in A100 also--but that was his worst grade (C+). Fortunately, it is only a one unit class. I notice that 56% of that class either withdrew, got Ds, or failed. (So the curve didn't help all that much).

I somehow managed to pull of all a's and a minuses for a 3.89, coming from a 3.4 in high school.

Fantastic result, zippo. Any suggestions you want to give to everybody else (other than work hard)?

Also, what classes did you take? What major?

business - i did a100, x104, m118, and then astronomy, spanish (250) and bowling. i would say in a100, besides studying, read each question on the test several times. on both tests, i would find at least 5 questions that i misunderstood the first time around. as long as you try in x104, you should get a b or better, and yeah i can't say enough about choosing the right profs (ratemyprofessors.com). take bowling

Haha, my grades were TERRIBLE. I'm not going to post my GPA. But then again, I don't think anyone here took Peter Olson's E201 class.

A2Wolves6, you are no longer interested in transferring to Mich?

Even if I had higher grades, I wouldn't transfer to Michigan, I feel Indiana is a better environment with better oppurtunities (for me at least).
