anyone get theirs yet? still waiting on mine.

on a side note, does anyone know if they send e-mail notification as well? I'm currently out of the country, and no one is home so I can't really find out for quite some time if they don't send e-mail notification.

sorry to hear that IllinoisMom, I didn't get in, either. Kinda disappointed because I thought I was a shoo-in (3.9 gpa, direct admit, varsity athlete, good ecs, good essay and I'm sure I got a pretty positive rec). Meh, as you said, not the end of the world, but I just hate rejection in general, lol.

Wow, Piemastarr. Sorry to hear your news. I would have thought a direct admit with a 3.9 gpa had a great chance. Did you have many honors classes freshman year?

Did not get in either, Mitte looks like they took 10% of our class...not necessarily the best top 10%, you can definitely excel in other areas to make yourself stand out since kelley/iu is large enough. One thing to keep in mind though is after freshman year, I'm sure many of the applicants had high GPAs since some haven't taken e370, accounting classes, etc.

I bet that unless you enter IU as a freshman with at least fifteen to thirty ap and/or other kinds of advance credit that you would have a tough time getting into Mitte. Why? I'm guessing that the majority of Mitte admits this summer took A205 Honors Financial Accounting in Spring 2008. 151 students took it in the Spring, and only eight of them had a freshman class standing after the Fall 2007 semester, while 108 had sophomore class standing. Note that it is sophomore "class standing" but probably most of them are in only their second semester of college in Spring 2008. If you are taking honors courses, it would be difficult to take A205 in the fourth semester of college (i.e. the spring semester of your second year) and still be on course to take I-Core in the fall of your junior year. So I am almost certain that these "sophomores" are in their first year of college and were only able to get into A205 because their class standing relative to first-year students with few advance credits allowed them to register for this high demand class.

Consider that the average grade for A205 this Spring was 3.48; average student gpa after the semester was 3.72. Seventy-seven (almost half) of these students had A- or better in A205. It probably looks pretty good on the Mitte application to have a good grade in honors financial accounting. Problem with not being a freshman with a bunch of advanced credit is that you would be unlikely to be able to register for A205, which had a waiting list of 24 people in spring 2007.

bthomp1 what are you talking about... they dont care if you took honors classes freshmen year or not.. they just cared about in order.. 1)GPA 2) EC's 3) DA or no DA, 4) Essay... on the letter it says there were over 300 applicants who were qualified to be accepted to the mitte and they only accepted 130..

Yeah, I tested into a pretty high level of foreign language classes and was then awarded some credit for the classes I skipped. That being said, I'll be returning a second semester sophomore this fall. What killed me was probably my GPA. Getting solid Bs in the 300 level foreign language classes gave me a 3.63 and after the second semester it feel even further to a 3.55. I applied on a whim, thinking thay may not necessarily use that as a cutoff. Yes I took honors classes, got an A in Tillers class, am a DA, and have solid ECs, but I suppose what they weigh highest I did not have....

violinguy... yeah I think you should realy petition for it.. I mean you would have had a higher GPA well above the 3.7 cutoff.. but you academically challenged yourself.. they opened 130 spots... but I assume not all 130 will be filled.. some students will probably transfer or decide to decline the mitte invitation.

Many of you have noted that EC's are very important for Mitte. Could you please list some of the more "solid" or better EC's that would jump out of the crowd. Thanks for any help.

This may reveal my identity, for I am the only one I know doing something like this (though I may be wrong), but I participate in the school of music's performing ensemble division (operas, ballets, symphonies etc.) in addition to outside chamber music work. This requires hours of additional work on my behalf and can sometime be overwhelming when added to my Kelley schedule, but I manage. In addition to that I am a member of the econ club and serve on my residence hall's student government. However, I was not awarded acceptance. But those are my major ecs to name a few.

Yes, IllinoisMom, I had 3 business honors classes this year (Business Presentations, K204, A205). Got an A- in the first, and A's in the second two.

Petitioning won't really help in this case. I've spoken with the Admissions council for the program, and they were very adamant about decisions being final.
